SIMSBURY, CT -- Remi DeSmith, a goaltender for the Connecticut Nor'Easter, has committed to Hiram College for the 2025-26 season.
DeSmith, a 2004-born player and Connecticut native, will join Hiram’s first-ever NCAA Division III hockey team as they launch their program next fall.
DeSmith is thrilled to take the next step in his hockey and academic journey.
“I am thrilled to announce that I have committed to Hiram College to further my education and to pursue my passion of playing hockey,” DeSmith said. “The first-year program located in Ohio is a tremendous opportunity to be a part of building something great with the Hiram community. I look forward to accepting the challenge of creating a culture with my new teammates, as we have done on the Nor'easter this year. None of this would be possible without the heartfelt kindness of my teammates, coaches, Hiram College, and most of all, family. My gratitude knows no bounds. Thank you.”
DeSmith’s coach expressed excitement for the goaltender’s future with Hiram College.
“On behalf of the Connecticut Nor'Easter organization, I would like to congratulate Remi on his commitment to Hiram College,” said Nor'Easter head coach and general manager Greg Heffernan. “Hiram is getting an athletic goalie with tons of upside and a top-notch human being. I love that the Connecticut Nor’easter’s first-ever NCAA commit is a Connecticut native and also that Remi came to a first-year junior team and is going to a first-year NCAA team. This is a great fit for both Remi and Hiram!”
As season rolls along, DeSmith is eager to make an impact with the Nor'easter and continue his development in preparation for the college level. Both the Connecticut Nor'easter and Hiram College are excited to see what lies ahead for this promising goaltender.
