D-Man Will Join Golden Bears in the Fall

HOOKSETT, NH -- Filip Kuba, a defenseman for the New Hampshire Avalanche, has committed to Western New England University for the fall of 2025.

An '04 from Tampa, Florida, Kuba has been a key contributor this season, playing in 16 games with 3 goals and 3 assists.

"Filip came to us after spending a year in the NCDC," said Avalanche head coach Chris Cerrella. "He was able to get the development that he needed to get on college hockey radars in his last season of junior hockey. Koobs is a warrior; he works hard on and off the ice and is going to be a great addition to the Western New England community. We wish him and his family the best of luck in the future."

Kuba expressed his gratitude, saying, "I would like to thank my family, especially my father, for all the help and lessons I have learned along the way. I would like to thank Coach Cerrella for being a great coach and helping me get the college hockey exposure I needed this season. Lastly, I must thank all my teammates, both current and former, for the memories and for pushing me to be the best version of myself on the ice."

At Western New England, Kuba will team up with current Avalanche teammate Jake Hines. The Golden Bears, an NCAA Division III program, compete in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC).
