Hartford, CT – Kai Skilbeck, a defenseman for the Connecticut Nor’Easter (CTN), has committed to Western New England University for the fall of 2025.
An ‘04 from Burlington, Ontario, Canada, Skilbeck has played 22 games this season, recording one goal and 12 assists for a total of 13 points.
"I could not be happier that Kai has committed to Western New England, a program that I hold so close to my heart," said Nor’Easter head coach and general manager Greg Heffernan. "Kai has been a key part of our team’s success, and it's been a privilege to watch his growth as a player and a person. This next step in his journey is well-deserved, and I have no doubt he will continue to excel at the collegiate level and represent our program and the sport with pride."
Western New England University competes at the NCAA Division III level in the Commonwealth of New England (CNE). Skilbeck will join the program led by head coach Mike Young.
"The EHL provides tremendous opportunities to play in front of NCAA coaches every game," said Skilbeck. "Coach Heffernan does a great job using his experience coaching at the NCAA level to prepare his players for the next step. Playing under Coach Heffernan has allowed me to continue to develop and feel confident for the transition to DIII."
