Bears' Versatile Leader to Join Terriers for 2025-26 Season

Newark, NJ – Ryan Johnston, a forward/defenseman for the New Jersey Bears (NJB), has committed to Hiram College for the 2025-26 season.

An '04 from Cary, NC, Johnston has played in 28 games this season, recording an assist to his credit.

“Ryan is a player that is the ultimate team guy,” said Bears head coach Jason Kilcoyne. “He takes on the roles that are needed for a team to be successful but may sacrifice his production. He has played defense and forward for us. We wish him the best, and Hiram is getting a great student-athlete to start their program.”

Hiram College, located in Hiram, Ohio, will compete at the NCAA Division III and will be lead by head coach Jeffrey Curto.

“I am extremely thankful for the support of my family on my hockey journey,” said Kilcoyne. “Thanks to my teammates and coaches, especially Coach Kilcoyne for supporting and challenging me to be the best player I can be. Lastly, I would like to thank Coach Curto for believing in me and giving me an opportunity to play at the collegiate level.”
