Top Forward, Defenseman, & Goaltender Honored

BOSTON, MA -- The Eastern Hockey League (EHL) and Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP) are proud to honor the top performers for the month of January.

Forward of the Month

Edward Mirigliano - Pennsylvania Huntsmen

The EHL is pleased to announce forward Edward Mirigliano of the Pennsylvania Huntsmen as a January Star of the Month. The ’05 native of Hershey, PA had an outstanding month for the Huntsmen tallying an impressive 10 goals and five assists in nine games played. Mirigliano had three two-goal performances over the course of the month and tallied at one least one point in all nine games. In 22 total games played, Mirigliano has 24 points (15G, 9A). The Huntsmen are 4-0-1-0 in their last five and hope to keep it going Friday when they host the New Jersey 87’s at 11:30am.

Defenseman of the Month

Artur Kharisov - New Jersey 87's

The EHL is pleased to announce defenseman Artur Kharisov of the New Jersey 87’s as a January Star of the Month. The ’04 native of Chelny, Russia has been a key member of the blue line all season since he joined the team in late November. In the month of January, Kharisov had 11points (4G, 7A) in eight games played. He contributed at least one point in six out of the eight games and his best game was a two-goal performance in a 6-2 win over the Philly Little Flyers. The 87’s (24-9-1-0) will be back in action on Friday taking on the Huntsmen.

Goaltender of the Month

Lukas Toth - Express Hockey Club

The EHL is pleased to announce Express Hockey Club goalie Lukas Toth as a January Star of the Month. The ’05 native of Kelowna, BC had an undefeated month going 3-0 in five appearances. Toth allowed just four goals total this month and his best start was a 22-save shutout performance in a 3-0 win against the Connecticut Nor’Easter. Toth has been a key member to the Express’s success as in 14 total appearances, he is 10-0 with a 1.05 GAA in 744 minutes played. The Express (28-2-1-3) will be back in action Friday when they take on the Bridgewater Bandits at 12 noon.

Forward of the Month

Cam Plumb - New England Wolves

The EHLP is pleased to announce forward Cam Plumb from the New England Wolves as a January Star of the Month. The ’06 native from Pembroke, NH has been a driving offensive force for the Wolves all season. In January, Plumb had six goals and 10 assists in six games played. He had two four-point performances and his best game of the month was a 8-4 win over the Vermont Lumberjacks where he had two goals and three assists. Plumb shows no signs of slowing down and in 31 games played this season has an astounding 64 points (30G, 34A). The Wolves (29-3-0-0) will play today February 1 hosting the Valley Jr. Warriors at 4:15 pm.

Defenseman of the Month

Alec Osher - New Jersey 87's

The EHLP is pleased to announce defenseman Alec Osher of the New Jersey 87’s as a January Star of the Month. The ’04 native of Old Bridge, NJ had an impressive month tallying three goals and six assists in six games played. Osher had multi-point games in four of the six with his best showing coming in a 5-2 win over the NJ Renegades where he had a goal and two assists. In 28 games this season, Osher has 34 points (13G, 21A) and is a key part of the blue line. The 87’s (26-4-0-0) will be back in action tonight taking on the Renegades at 7:45 pm.

Goaltender of the Month

Frankie Smith - New Jersey 87's

The EHLP is pleased to announce goalie Frankie Smith of the New Jersey 87’s as a January Star of the Month. The ’04 native of Little Ferry, NJ went 3-0 this month while allowing just one goal total. Smith recorded two shutouts this month in impressive fashion and continues to dazzle for the 87’s. In 10 starts this season, Smith is 9-1 with a 1.09 GAA in 604 minutes played. He has allowed just 11 total goals all season and has three shutouts under his belt.
