Top EHL & EHLP Performers for Week #18

BOSTON, MA -- The Eastern Hockey League (EHL) and Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP) Announce Stars of Week 18 for January 28th - February 3rd.

Eastern Hockey League

North Division

Ben O'Keefe - Valley Jr Warriors (G)

The EHL is pleased to announce goaltender Ben O’Keefe of the Valley Jr. Warriors as the North Division Star of the Week. The ’04 native of Tewksbury, MA had an outstanding week in net going 3-0 in three starts while allowing just three goals and posting one shutout. His best outing was the 1-0 win over the Boston Dukes where he had 25 saves. O’Keefe struggled a bit to start the season but has really found his stride over the last month. The Jr. Warriors (12-17-5-0) are back in action Tuesday when they take on the New Hampshire Avalanche at 12:10 pm.

East Division

Alex Koenig - Express Hockey Club (G)

The EHL is pleased to announce goaltender Alex Koenig of the Express Hockey Club as the East Division Star of the Week. Koenig, an ’04 native of Manhattan Beach, CA showed no signs of slowing down this week with two more solid starts in net. The first was a big 3-2 win over the New Hampshire Avalanche where he allowed two goals and had 41 saves. Koenig followed that up with a 2-1 overtime win against HC Rhode Island where he had 24 saves. Koenig continues to shine and is a huge part of the Expresses’ success. In 22 appearances, Koenig is 17-2 with a 1.65 GAA. The Express (28-2-1-3) will be back in action Friday taking on the Bridgewater Bandits at 12 noon.

Central Division

Aidan Radic - Providence Capitals (F)

The Central Division Star of the Week for the EHL is forward Aidan Radic from the Providence Capitals. The ’05 native of Castle Rock, CO had two big games this week totaling five goals and two assists. Radic notched a hat trick in a 5-2 win over the Connecticut RoughRiders and followed that up with two goals and two assists in a 7-2 win over the RoughRiders. In 14 games played since joining the team in November, Radic has 20 points (9G, 11A). The Capitals (23-7-1-1) will be back in action Thursday when they host the CT Nor’Easter at 11:30am.

South Division

Alexander Legkov - New Jersey 87's (F)

The South Division Star of the Week in the EHL is New Jersey 87’s forward Alexander Legkov. Legkov, an ’04 native of Moskva, Russia had two big games this week for his team tallying eight assists. Legkov assisted on four of the seven goals in a 7-1 win over the Philadelphia Little Flyers. In his second game of the week, he had four more assists in a 6-2 win over the Little Flyers, consistently making his presence known on the ice. Legkov is having a monster season for the 87’s as in 26 games he has an astounding 61 points (20G, 41A). The 87’s (24-9-1-0) next up play the Pennsylvania Huntsmen Wednesday at 11:30 am.

Eastern Hockey League Premier

North Division

Deagan Rathburn - New Hampshire Avalanche (G)

The EHLP is pleased to announce goaltender Deagan Rathburn from the New Hampshire Avalanche as the North Division Star of the Week. The ’05 St. Albans, VT native had an incredible showing in net this week going 3-0 while allowing six total goals all in games against the Lumberjacks. His best start was a 5-1 victory where he allowed one goal and had 32 saves. Rathburn also was solid in a 4-3 overtime victory and a 4-2 win where he stopped 44 in net. In 20 appearances this season, Rathburn is 14-5 with a 2.74 GAA in 1,119 minutes played. The Avalanche (22-10-2-1) next up will host CT Nor’Easter AAA Academy Thursday at 12 noon.

East Division

Cooper Grossguth - Express Hockey Club (F)

The EHLP East Division Star of the Week for week 18 is forward Cooper Grossguth from the Express Hockey Club. The ’05 Warwick, RI native had two goals and an assist in a 6-1 win over the Bridgewater Bandits. Grossguth continues to be a threat for the Express as in 26 games played, he has posted 41 total points (18G, 23A). This is Grossguth fourth Star of the Week honor as he also held the title in weeks four, seven and 13. The Express (14-11-1-2) are back in action Saturday when they play the Seahawks at 4:00 pm at Tony Kent Arena.

South Division

Kale Chominsky - New Jersey Renegades (F)

The South Division Star of the Week for the EHLP is forward Kale Chominsky from the New Jersey Renegades. The ’04 native of Los Angeles, CA put up three goals and two assists in two games played this week. Chominsky had the lone goal in a 3-1 loss to the New Jersey 87’s. The next day he had two goals and two assists in a 7-4 win against the Philly Little Flyers. In 19 games with the Renegades this season, Chominsky has 27 points (13G, 14A). The Renegades (12-16-2-1) will next host the Union Jr. Thunder Friday night at 8:20pm.
