New Initiative Implemented Immediately for Conclusion of 2024-25 Regular Season

BOSTON, MA -- The Eastern Hockey League (EHL) is proud to announce a new 'Affiliate Player Program', which is being implemented immediately for the conclusion of the current 2024-25 regular season.

Purpose

The purpose of this program is to outline the guidelines and regulations for the affiliate program, allowing up to three (3) players to be added to a roster on an affiliate basis. This program is designed to facilitate player development and future roster planning, while maintaining competitive integrity in addition to showcasing the strength of the EHL to future participants.

Player Development & Integration

Affiliate players may participate in practices, team meetings, and off-ice training to acclimate to the team’s systems and culture. Game participation is permitted during the regular season, but subject to coaching discretion.

Tier II

Earlier this month the EHL re-classified itself as a Tier II junior hockey league, focused on elevating the league's mission to new heights, while continuing to be the league Where Players Come First.

This new program will serve to benefit both the teams in the league as well as prospective players, as the opportunity to play in the EHL will be invaluable for families in the process of determining the next step for their respective player.

"I am beyond excited to announce our new Affiliate Player Program, and even more proud of the fact that this is being implemented immediately," said Neil Ravin, the Commissioner of the EHL. "While we've all witnessed a number of changes to the junior hockey landscape, the EHL remains focused on strengthening from within. We know what we provide to the players in terms of our overall product, and giving the prospective group a chance to get a feel for that will be beyond beneficial for both the league and future players. I look forward to welcoming our first class of affiliate players to the upcoming league-wide showcase in Philadelphia, where they will get to experience everything that we offer as a league. Our showcases are what makes the EHL so special, and the event in March will be no different. The Affiliate Player Program is latest example of how we Develop, Promote, and Advance, all players that come through the door."

Program Structure

  • A maximum of three (3) players may be added to the roster under the affiliate program.

  • Affiliate players must sign a formal affiliate agreement, in addition to either a team-specific player contract or tender form.

  • Affiliate players are limited to three (3) total regular season games for the remainder of the 2024-25 regular season, and that number will increase to seven (7) total regular season games for the upcoming 2025-26 regular season.

  • Players added as affiliates cannot participate in playoff games.
