Top EHL & EHLP Performers for the March Showcase (Week #23)

BOSTON, MA -- The Eastern Hockey League (EHL) and Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP) announce Showcase Stars coming from games played during the Philadelphia Showcase between March 7th and 10th (Week 23).

FORWARDS

Nate Brissette - Express Hockey Club

The EHL is pleased to announce forward Nate Brissette of the Express Hockey Club as a Northeast Division Showcase Star as he helped lead his team to a 3-0 Philadelphia Showcase. The ’06 native of Wakefield, MA had a great showing in his team’s three games tallying three goals and two assists. Brissette had a goal and two assists in a 8-2 win over the New York Apple Core and a single tally in a 5-3 win over the Boston Jr. Eagles and the winning goal in a huge 2-1 win over the New Hampshire Avalanche. In 46 games played this season, Brissette had 42 points (14G, 28A). The Express closed out the regular season with a record of 36-3-4-3 and won the title of regular season champions.  

Brogan Andrus - Bridgewater Bandits

The EHL is pleased to announce forward Brogan Andrus of the Bridegewater Bandits as a Northeast Division Showcase Star. The ’04 native of Denver, CO had a solid weekend for the Bandits putting up four total points (3G, 2A). Andrus had a goal and an assist in a 3-0 win over the Pennsylvania Huntsmen and the following day had two goals and an assist in a 5-3 win against Philadelphia Hockey Club. In 44 games played this season, Andrus had 22 points (12G, 10A). The Bandits close out the season with a 13-28-4-1 record.

Jordan Blais - Vermont Lumberjacks

The EHL is pleased to announce forward Jordan Blais of the Vermont Lumberjacks as a Northeast Division Showcase Star. The ’04 Enfield, CT native had three goals in two games for the Lumberjacks over the weekend. Blais tallied the first goal in a 2-0 shutout win over the Boston Jr. Eagles and netted two more in a 4-2 win over the Connecticut RoughRiders. In 28 games played this season, Blais had 17 points and is committed to Western Connecticut State next season. The Lumberjacks finished the regular season with a 23-17-2-3 record and now await playoffs.  

DEFENSE

Ryan Sember - New England Wolves

The EHL is pleased to announce defenseman Ryan Sember of the New England Wolves as a Northeast Division Showcase Star. The ’06 native of Webster, NY played a key role in his team’s showcase weekend helping the Wolves go 3-0 overall. Sember tallied two assists including the winning goal in a 5-4 overtime win against the Philadelphia Little Flyers. He then assisted on two of three goals the following day in a 3-2 win over the New Jersey Bears. Sember played in all 46 regular season games for the Wolves and had 16 points. The Wolves finish with a 34-11-1-0 record and await playoffs.

Gerald Cahill - Boston Jr Eagles

The EHL is pleased to announce defenseman Gerald Cahill of the Boston Jr. Eagles as a Northeast Division Showcase Star. The ’04 native of Dorchester, MA had a goal and two assists during a 5-3 loss to the Express Hockey Club in their final game of the Philadelphia Showcase. Cahill has appeared in 45 games this season and has 13 points (4G, 9A). The Jr. Eagles finished with an 18-25-3-0 record and will now prepare for the postseason.

GOALIE

Cam Wickens - Vermont Lumberjacks

The EHL is pleased to announce goaltender Cam Wickens from the Vermont Lumberjacks as a Northeast Division Showcase Star. The ’04 Revere, MA native posted two big wins in goal in the Philadelphia Showcase over the weekend. Wickens earned a 2-0 shutout win over the Boston Jr. Eagles and had 34 saves. The following day, he allowed two goals and had 30 saves in a 4-2 win over the CT RoughRiders. He also took a loss in a 4-3 shootout loss to the East Coast Wizards. In 36 appearances this season, Wickens is 19-12 with a 2.77 GAA in 2,078 minutes played.

Alexander Legkov - New Jersey 87's

The EHL is pleased to announce forward Alexander Legkov of the New Jersey 87s as a Mid-Atlantic Division Showcase Star. The ’04 native of Moskva, Russia. The EHL’s leading scorer (95 pts in 38 GP) had seven points in three games at the Showcase, including two goals and two assists in a regular-season ending 5-1 win over the East Coast Wizards and a goal and assist in a 4-0 shutout of the Valley Jr. Warriors. The 87s are getting ready for a South Division first round series against the Pennsylvania Huntsmen.

Kevin Walton - Philadelphia Little Flyers

The EHL is pleased to announce forward Kevin Walton of the Philadelphia Little Flyers as a Mid-Atlantic Division Showcase Star. The ’06 native of Garnet Valley, PA, a recent addition to the Flyers roster, picked up two assists in a 5-4 loss to the New England Wolves, then followed up with two goals and an assist in 6-3 win over the Connecticut Jr Rangers. Walton put up nine points in six games played to end the season.

Lucas Goldstein - Connecticut RoughRiders

The EHL is pleased to announce forward Lucas Goldstein of the Connecticut Roughriders as a Mid-Atlantic Division Showcase Star. The ’06 native of Point Lookout, NY scored twice in a loss to the Philadelphia Little Flyers, and had another goal in a 4-3 loss to the New England Wolves. The Roughriders will face the Central Division’s first place team – the Providence Capitals – in a best-of-three playoff series next.

DEFENSE

Paulis Leonards Paegle - New York Apple Core

The EHL is pleased to announce defenseman Paulis Leonards Paegle of the New York Apple Core as a Mid-Atlantic Division Showcase Star. The ’06 native of Riga, Latvia  had a big four-point game in a 6-3 victory over the Boston Dukes (1G-3A) and also registered an assist in the Apple Core’s contest against the Express Hockey Club. Paegle ended the season with a line of 8-22-30 in 41 games played for Apple Core.

Rodion Trushkin - Providence Capitals

The EHL is pleased to announce defenseman Rodion Trushkin of the Providence Capitals as a Mid-Atlantic Division Showcase Star. The ’07 native of Moscow scored his team’s only goal in a 1-0 win over the East Coast Wizards, and also had a goal in the Capitals’ 3-2 win over the Philadelphia Hockey Club. The Capitals finished first in the Central Division and will take on the Connecticut Roughriders in a first round two-of-three playoff series beginning next week.

GOALIE

Nick Hansen - Providence Capitals

The EHL is pleased to announce goaltender Nick Hansen of the Providence Capitals as a Mid-Atlantic Division Showcase Star. The ’04 native of Mesa, AZ played two games in the Showcase, stopping all 28 shots in the Capitals win over the East Coast Wizards, and 31 of 33 shots in the 3-2 win over the Philadelphia Hockey Club.

Paul Magalhaes - Valley Jr Warriors

The EHLP is pleased to announce forward Paul Magalhaes of the Valley Junior Warriors as a Showcase Star. The ’04 native of Cambridge, MA had a huge 10-point weekend, scoring two goals and assists in a big win over the Bridgewater Bandits, chipping in with four assists in an 8-2 win over the New Jersey Renegades, then closing with a goal and assist in a 7-4 victory over the Philadelphia Little Flyers. The Warriors look ahead to a North Division play-in round playoff series against the Vermont Lumberjacks.

John Greer - Valley Jr Warriors

The EHLP is pleased to announce forward John Greer of the Valley Jr. Warriors as a Showcase Star. The ’06 native of Chicago had a hat trick in the Warriors’ win over the Bridgewater Bandits, and then registered two goals and an assist in wins over the New Jersey Renegades and Philadelphia Little Flyers. In 34 games this season, Greer had 36 points for the Jr. Warriors (17G, 19A).

Josh Bain - Vermont Lumberjacks

The EHLP is pleased to announce forward Josh Bain of the Vermont Lumberjacks as a Showcase Star. The ’05 native of Longville, MN put up seven points over the weekend, including three goals and an assist in a Lumberjack win over the New Jersey ‘87s. Bain had 26 points in 23 games this season and he and his Lumberjacks teammates are readying for a best-of-three play-in series against the Valley Jr. Warriors.

Defense

Shane Bradley - Connecticut Nor'Easter

The EHLP is pleased to announce defenseman Shane Bradley of the CT Nor’Easter AAA Academy as a Showcase Star. The ’06 native of Cumberland, RI had a goal in a 2-1 win over the Pennsylvania Huntsmen, and added a pair of assists in a 2-1 win over Union Jr. Thunder. Bradley will look ahead to the postseason as the Nor’Easter get set for an East Division play-in series against the Bridgewater Bandits.

Nolan Lyford - Vermont Lumberjacks

The EHLP is pleased to announce defenseman Nolan Lyford of the Vermont Lumberjacks as a Showcase Star. The ’05 native of Montpelier, VT registered an impressive eight points in the Showcase, including a five-point game in a win over the Bridgewater Bandits, and a goal and assist in the team’s victory over the New Jersey 87s. Lyford has 12 points in his 11 games played with the Lumberjacks.

Goalie

Mason Campbell - Providence Capitals

The EHLP is pleased to announce goaltender Mason Campbell of the Providence Capitals as a Showcase Star. The ’06 native of Westerly, RI allowed just one goal in his 136 minutes and 26 seconds of playing time, including a 25-save complete game shutout over the New Jersey Bears. The Capitals finished second in the East Division and will take on the Express Hockey Club in a First Round best-of-three series next week.

Jack Farrell - Providence Capitals

The EHLP is pleased to announce forward Jack Farrell of the Providence Capitals as a Showcase Star. The ’05 native of Burrillville, RI closed out the regular season with a two-goal, one-assist output in a 5-2 win over the New Jersey Renegades. He also had a lone Capitals’ goal in a loss to the Adirondack Jr. Thunder. He had an astounding season with the Capitals with 46 points (23G, 23A) in 36 games. The Capitals draw the Express Hockey Club in an East Division First Round series.

Trey Guire - CT Nor'Easter AAA Academy

The EHLP is pleased to announce forward Trey Guire of the CT Nor’Easter AAA Academy as a Showcase Star. The ’06 native of Bordentown, NJ had a goal in a win over the Pennsylvania Huntsmen, then followed up with both goals in the Nor’Easter 2-1 win over the Union Jr. Thunder. Guire was a key member of the offense this season as he put up 39 points (28G, 11A) in 42 games. Up next for the Nor’Easter is a play-in series with the Bridgewater Bandits.

Quinn Wimer - Adirondack Jr Thunder

The EHLP is pleased to announce forward Quinn Wimer of the Adirondack Jr. Thunder as a Showcase Star. The ’06 native of Syracuse, NY scored two goals in the Thunder’s win over the Providence Capitals, a goal in a 3-0 shutout victory over the Pennsylvania Huntsmen, and an assist in a 2-1 win over the Union Jr. Thunder. Wimer ends the regular season with 52 points (34G, 18A) in 41 games. Adirondack is preparing for a First Round North Division Best-of-Three playoff series with the New Hampshire Avalanche.

Defense

Jordan Sheppard - Vermont Lumberjacks

The EHLP is pleased to announce defenseman Jordan Sheppard of the Vermont Lumberjacks as a Showcase Star. The ’05 native of Scarborough, ME registered points in all three Showcase games, with an assist in a win over the New Jersey Bears, a goal and assist in a victory over the Bridgewater Bandits and then a pair of assists in a 7-2 conquest of the New Jersey 87s. The Valley Jr. Warriors are up next in a play-in round series.

Ivars Veisbardis - New England Wolves

The EHLP is pleased to announce defenseman Ivars Veisbardis of the New England Wolves as a Showcase Star. The ’07 native of Riga, Latvia had two goals and an assist in the Wolves’ win over the Bridgewater Bandits, and then added two assists in a win over the Philadelphia Little Flyers. The Wolves await the winner of the play-in series between Valley and the Lumberjacks in the First Round of the North Division playoffs.

Goalie

Devin Brown - Philadelphia Little Flyers

The EHLP is pleased to announce goaltender Devin Brown of the Philadelphia Little Flyers as a Showcase Star. The ’05 native of New Market, MD notched a pair of wins at the Showcase, stopping 54 of the 55 shots he faced against the CT Nor’Easter (shutout) and the Express Hockey Club (a 2-1 shootout win for the Flyers). The Little Flyers will take on the Union Jr. Thunder in a South Division Best-of-Three play-in series.
