Bears All-Star Defenseman to Join Pilgrams in Fall

Flemington, NJ – Casey Strum, a defenseman for the New Jersey Bears, has committed to New England College for the Fall of 2025.

An 05’ native of Lake in the Hills, IL, Sturm has put together an impressive first season in the EHL. The Mid-Atlantic All-Star has amassed four goals and 14 assists this season as a fixture on the New Jersey blue-line. He and the Bears will square off against Philadelphia Hockey Club in the first round of the playoffs

“Casey had a great first year in the EHL,” said Bears Head Coach Jason Kilcoyne. “He is one of those players that doesn't need his age-out year to go to college. We are so proud of him and excited for New England College. They are getting an exciting player.”

Sturm will join several EHL alumni when he arrives on campus. The Pilgrims compete in the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) under Head Coach Tom Carroll.

“I am excited and honored to announce my commitment to New England College,” Sturm said. “I want to thank Tom Carroll for giving me the opportunity to play college hockey. Through all my ups and downs, I was grateful for the support from my family, friends, coaches, and teammates. Without them, none of this would be possible. Looking forward to the next four years of my life and hockey career. Go Grims!”
