All-Star Bears Defenseman To Join Knights in Fall of 2025

FLEMINGTON, NJ -- Michael Benkovitz, a defenseman for the New Jersey Bears, has commitment to Arcadia University for the fall of 2025.

An 04’ out of Jersey City, NJ, Benkovitz is a two year product of the EHL and a league All-Star. He spent his first season primarily with the New York Apple Core, where he produced well, but found new heights with the Bears, contributing 18 goals and 19 assists in 45 games this past season. In sum, Benkovitz tallied 70 points in 97 games.

“Congratulations to Mike, and I wish him the best at Arcadia,” Bears Head Coach Jason Kilcoyne said. “Mike was a swiss army knife for us playing, everywhere except goalie and contributed to our success. He is a competitor.”

Benkovitz joins his brother Chris, and fellow All-Star Grant Burback as another commitment to Arcadia for this year’s class. They are led by Head Coach Ryan Heickert.

"I am honored and excited to announce my commitment to Arcadia University to continue my academic and athletic career alongside my twin brother,” Benkovitz said. “I want to thank my family, especially my parents, for their unwavering support and sacrifices that made this possible. I am also deeply grateful to my teammates, coaches, and the New Jersey Bears organization for their guidance and belief in me throughout my journey. Lastly, I want to thank Coach Ryan Heickert for this incredible opportunity to join the Knights. I look forward to the next chapter of my life and hockey career. Go Knights!"
