SEWELL, NJ -- Matt Donegan, a defenseman for Philadelphia Hockey Club (PHC), has committed to Western Connecticut State for the 2025-26 season.
Donegan, an 04’ out of Medford, NJ, spent three seasons at the EHL level with Philadelphia. His last was his most productive, recording an impressive three goals and 21 assists in 38 games. In total, Donegan played 97 games.
“We are extremely proud and excited for Matt Donegan to commit to Western Connecticut,” said PHC Head Coach Adam Bartholomay. “He is another one who has been a big part of the Hollydell family and a big part of PHC. I could not be more proud of Matt and am looking forward to following his collegiate career.”
Donegan is amongst a large class of EHL alumni joining Western Connecticut for their inaugural season at the NCAA Division III level.
"I'd like to thank my parents for everything they have done for me and the sacrifices they have made for me to play hockey all these years,” said Donega. “I'd like to thank Coach Friedman for the opportunity to play college hockey. All the coaches and trainers throughout my years at Hollydell have helped me grow as a person and player and I can't thank them enough. I would like to thank coach Joe Matiskiel for helping me this past year on and off the ice and always keeping it light on the bench. Lastly, I would like to thank Coach Bartholomay. It's been a long time together and it's been the best years of my life. Wouldn't trade it for anything. Best coach in the business.”
