BOSTON, Mass. -- Northern Cyclones defenseman Grant Gallo just about pulled the trigger on heading to college last year, but figured one more season of Junior hockey might increase his "stock" value while giving him a chance to further develop his skills and shoot for a league championship.

His decision turned out to be a good one all the way around as the San Diego, Calif., native is putting the finishing touches on an outstanding season that has seen him accomplish almost all his goals.  Gallo has served as the Northern Cyclones' captain this season while leading them through a campaign in which they accumulated the second-most points in the EHL regular season and are preparing to face off against the New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs for the EHL Playoff Championship.

Icing on the cake for Gallo is the fact that the EHL head coaches almost unanimously chose him as the EHL Defenseman of the Year for the 2014-15 season.  Gallo was the EHL's leading scorer among defensemen (T19 overall) with 15 goals and 27 assists for 42 points, including 20 power play points and two game-winners.  He logged big minutes during the regular seaosn and continues that trend in the EHL playoffs.

Gallo's performance garnered him an early season commitment to SUNY-Plattsburgh where the 6-4, 215 pounder will bring his skills in 2014-15.
