O'Donnell, Cavanaugh, and Goodwin Named 3 Stars of the Week

We've reached the holiday break of the 2015-16 EHL season!

This week, the EHL has selected Ryan O'Donnell (Boston Bandits), Patrick Cavanaugh (New York Bobcats), and Tristan Goodwin (Connecticut Nighthawks) as the EHL Stars of the Week.

Team of the week honors are going to the Connecticut Nighthawks, and also make sure to check out the EHL Honorable Mention recipients, and the EHL Video of the Week.

Ryan O'Donnell

O'Donnell and the Bandits head into the holiday break riding a two-game winning streak and in control of the top stop in the North Conference. The Bandits are 7-3-0 in their last 10 games, including a win over each the Warriors and the Cyclones this past week.

O'Donnell's four-point weekend included the GWG on Saturday, and the 19-year-old forward now has 14 points so far this season. O'Donnell also committed to Fitchburg State back in the beginning of November, and he and the Bandits will return from break to take on the East Coast Wizards on January 9th.

Patrick Cavanaugh

Cavanaugh and the Bobcats head into the holiday break riding a three-game winning streak, which includes this past weekend's home-and-home sweep of the New Jersey Rockets.

With the win on Saturday, Cavanaugh improves his season record to 9-4-0, while lowering his GAA to 2.35. The native of New York has won his last two starts while stopping 66 of the 69 shots he has faced. The Bobcats will return from break to take on the New York Applecore on January 10th.

Tristan Goodwin

Goodwin and the Nighthawks head into the holiday break riding a two-game winning streak, thanks to a weekend sweep with victories over the New York Applecore and Connecticut Oilers.

Goodwin scored all three goals for the Nighthawks in their win over the Applecore on Friday, and then followed things up with two assists on Saturday as the Nigthawks snapped the Oilers' winning streak at 11 games. The Nighthawks will return from break to host the Philadelphia Revolution, January 9th and 10th.

Connecticut Nighthawks - EHL Team of the Week

This week's top team in the EHL is the Connecticut Nighthawks. The Nighthawks won both of their games this week, including a victory over the in-state rival Connecticut Oilers, snapping their winning streak at 11 games.

EHL Longest Winning Streaks This Season

  • Philadelphia Revolution (Premier Division) - 11 Games
  • Connecticut Oilers (Premier Division) - 11 Games
  • Boston Bandits (Elite Division) - 10 Games

Jordan Bustard and Dylan Schoen each picked up wins in net this weekend for the Nighthawks, and Tristan Goodwin recorded his first career hat-trick, as the team finishes the first half of the season in solid fashion.

The Nighthawks will return from break to host the Philadelphia Revolution, January 9th and 10th, a rematch from the opening weekend when the two teams split their pair of matchups in Pennsylvania.

EHL HONORABLE MENTION

For this week's EHL Honorable Mentions, we are highlighting a player performance and a team performance.

Connor Powell, a forward for the New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs, scored 3 goals and added an assist this weekend as the Monarchs won the Battle of the Border against the Vermont Lumberjacks. New Hampshire won Game 1 by the score of 4-2, lost the 2nd game 6-5 in Overtime, but retained the bear with a 9-8 aggregate score in their favor.

Who is the best team in the EHL? It could very likely be the Philadelphia Little Flyers, who have a record of 11-2 since November 1st. The Little Flyers swept the Jr. Flyers this past weekend to improve their record to 19-6-0, and move the team into a tie for 3rd place in the South Conference standings. The Little Flyers +54 goal differential is the best in the EHL, and they will look to continue their climb in the standings when they return from break to take on the Hartford Jr. Wolfpack, January 9th and 10th.
