Meehan, Kany, and McCartney Named 3 Stars of the Week

The EHL was back in full swing this past weekend. The stretch run towards the playoffs has begun, and we're also just five days away from the final stage of the EHL Showcase Series.

This week, the EHL has selected Joey Meehan (Northern Cyclones), Sam Kany (Philadelphia Little Flyers), and Richie McCartney (Philadelphia Revolution) as the EHL Stars of the Week.

Team of the week honors are going to the Philadelphia Little Flyers, and also make sure to check out the EHL Honorable Mention recipients, and the EHL Video of the Week.

Joey Meehan

Meehan and the Cyclones won both their games this past weekend, knocking off the Wizards on Saturday, and then the Warriors on Sunday. The four-point weekend keeps the Cyclones locked into 3rd place in the Northern Conference, as both the Bandits and Monarchs swept their weekend games as well. The Cyclones currently trail the Monarchs by 2 points, and the Bandits by 6 points at the top of the standings.

Meehan's seven-point weekend gives him 32 total points on the season (17 goals, 15 assists), and moves him into the top-20 in league scoring. With 18 points in his last 10 games, the Ohio native will look to keep things going at the MLK Day Showcase when the Cyclones take on the Revolution, Little Flyers, and Jr. Flyers.

Sam Kany

Kany and the Little Flyers swept their weekend series against the Wolfpack. The four-point weekend moves Philadelphia into a tie for 2nd place in the South Conference with the Revolution. The Little Flyers have won four in a row, and 12 of their last 13, and now sit just two points back of the Oilers for the top spot in the conference and the league.

With the victory, Kany improves his record to 9-5-0 on the season. The Arizona native now has 2 shutouts on the year, and has lowered his GAA to 2.06. The netminder will look keep things rolling at the MLK Day Showcase when the Little Flyers take on the Monarchs, Cyclones, and Rangers.

Richie McCartney

McCartney and the Revolution swept their weekend series with the Nighthawks. The four-point weekend gets Philadelphia back on track, after they ended the first half losing five of their last six. The Revolution are now tied with the Little Flyers for 2nd place in the South Conference, two points behind the Oilers for the top spot.

McCartney only played in Saturday's game this past weekend, but the Pennsylvania native made his presence felt by scoring his 2nd hat trick of the season. McCartney and the Revolution will look to extend their streak at the MLK Day Showcase when the Revolution take on the Cyclones, Rangers, and Monarchs.

Philadelphia Little Flyers - EHL Team of the Week

This week's top team in the EHL is the Philadelphia Little Flyers. The Little Flyers swept their weekend series with the Wolfpack, by scores of 9-5 and 10-0. The pair of victories moves the Little Flyers into a tie for 2nd place in the South Conference with the Revolution, two points back of the Oilers for the top spot.
