EHL 3 STARS OF THE WEEK - MLK Day Showcase

Potemkin, Elgstam, and Harris Named 3 Stars of the Week

The EHL Showcase Series for the 2015-16 season is officially complete. Thank you to everyone who took in the action in Hooksett this past weekend as there were just under 100 scouts in the building, including some NHL teams.

Now that this portion of the season is in the rear-view mirror, the playoff push is on!

This week, the EHL has selected Oleg Potemkin (Philadelphia Little Flyers), Douglas Elgstam (New Jersey Rockets), and Walker Harris (Connecticut Oilers) as the EHL Stars of the Week.

Team of the week honors are going to the Philadelphia Little Flyers.

OLEG POTEMKIN

Potemkin and the Little Flyers won all three of their games this past weekend, finishing the season with a 7-2-0 showcase record. The Little Flyers have now won 7 in a row, 15 of their last 16, and are tied with the Connecticut Oilers at the top of the league standings with 48 points.

Potemkin's five-point weekend gives him 34 total points on the season (15 goals, 19 assists), and puts him in the top-20 in league scoring. The native of Russia has 13 points in his last 7 games, and will look to keep things rolling this week when the Little Flyers take on the Revolution on Wednesday, and then face-off with the Nighthawks on Saturday and Sunday.

DOUGLAS ELGSTAM

Elgstam and the Rockets won two of their three games this past weekend, finishing the season with a 8-1-0 showcase record. The Rockets were the best team during the EHL Showcase Series, and are currently in 7th place in the South Conference with a record of 15-13-3 (33 points).

The Rockets were two wins away from finishing the season with a perfect 9-0-0 showcase record, before they lost to the Bandits.

Elgstam's five-point weekend gives him 35 total points on the season (17 goals, 18 assists), and puts him in the top-20 in league scoring. The Rockets will begin their playoff push when play next at the Philadelphia Revolution Mini-Showcase, January 29th-31st. That weekend they will face-off against the Revolution, Jr. Flyers, and Little Flyers.

WALKER HARRIS

Harris and the Oilers won two of their three games this past weekend, finishing the season with a 6-2-1 showcase record. The Oilers are now tied with the Philadelphia Little Flyers at the top of the league standings with 48 points.

Harris' four-point weekend gives him 44 total points on the season (20 goals, 24 assists), which ranks him 4th in the league in scoring. The Oilers will begin their playoff push when they face-off against the Hartford Jr. Wolfpack next Sunday in Cromwell, CT.

EHL TEAM OF THE WEEK

This week's top team in the EHL is once again, the Philadelphia Little Flyers. The Little Flyers have won 7 in a row, 15 of their last 16, and are tied with the Connecticut Oilers at the top of the league standings with 48 points.

Philadelphia will look to keep their impressive stretch rolling when they take on the Revolution on Wednesday, and then face-off with the Nighthawks on Saturday and Sunday.

The 2015-16 EHL Showcase Series is officially complete, and the league would like to first give thanks to the Northern Cyclones, Connecticut Nighthawks, and New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs for hosting this year's events.

Here are the top 5 goaltenders from the EHL Showcase Series:

Mac Vail (Connecticut Oilers) -  Vail posted a perfect 3-0-0 record during showcase play, along with a 1.33 GAA. Vail also shutout the Rangers on 11/8.

Kyle Carducci (Hartford Jr. Wolfpack) - Carducci tied for the league lead with 4 victories during showcase play.

Cam Newman (New Jersey Rockets) - Newman went 4-1-0 in showcase play, including a perfect 3-0-0 at the Veteran's Day Showcase in Simsbury. Newman owned a 2.60 GAA.

Patrick Cavanaugh (New York Bobcats) - Cavanaugh led the league with 2 shutouts during showcase play. Cavanaugh posted a 1.20 GAA and shutout the Warriors on 10/10, and the Express on 1/17.

Brock Thompson (Philadelphia Little Flyers) - Thompson went 3-0-0 in showcase play, with a 1.56 GAA. Thompson was in net for the Little Flyers overtime victory over the Monarchs on 1/16, and shootout victory over the Rangers on 1/18.
