Dunner, Murch, and McCartney Named 3 Stars of the Week

BOSTON, MA -- The Bedford Showcase is in the books, and it was a great start to the 2016-17 #EHLShowcaseSeries. This past weekend's showcase featured all 17 teams in the EHL Division, competing over a three-day period at The Edge Sports Center.

This week, the EHL is pleased to announce Ryan Dunner (Hartford Jr. Wolfpack), Cody Murch (Philadelphia Jr. Flyers), and Richard McCartney (Philadelphia Revolution) as the EHL Stars of the Week.

Also, this week's EHL Team of the Week is the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers.

RYAN DUNNER

Dunner and the Wolfpack won both of their games this past weekend, outscoring their opponents 7-1. The Wolfpack sit atop the Central Division standings with a perfect 3-0-0 record.

  • Friday, September 23rd ::: Wolfpack 4 - Cyclones 0 ::: (0g, 4a, 4p)
  • Saturday, September 24th ::: Wolfpack 3 - Wolves 1 ::: (1g, 1a, 2p)

With the six-point weekend, Dunner now has 8 total points in his first 3 EHL games. The native of Glassboro, NJ is tied for 4th in the league in scoring.

CODY MURCH

Murch and the Jr. Flyers won all 3 of their games this past weekend, outscoring their opponents 9-2. The 6'5" netminder was in net for 2 of the 3 wins, including the shutout victory on Sunday.

  • Friday, September 23rd ::: Jr. Flyers 5 - Wizards 2 ::: (33 saves)
  • Sunday, September 25th ::: Jr. Flyers 1 - Express 0 ::: (21 saves)

Murch started off the season by stopping 54 of the first 56 shots he faced, and carries his 1.00 GAA into next weekend's home-and-home series with the New Jersey Rockets.

RICHARD MCCARTNEY

McCartney and the Revolution maintained their lead in the league standings by winning both of their games this past weekend. The Revolution sit at the top with a record of 5-0-1, which is good for 11 of 12 points in their first 6 games.

  • Saturday, September 24th ::: Revolution 5 - Warriors 2 ::: (0g, 1a, 1p)
  • Sunday, September 25th ::: Revolution 4 - Wizards 1 ::: (2g, 1a, 3p)

McCartney's four-point weekend gives him 10 total points for the season, ranking 1st overall in league scoring. The native of Hershey, PA is in his 2nd season with the Revolution Premier team, and is off to a great start as he looks to surpass his 2015-16 numbers. This past season McCartney tallied 34 total points in 31 regular season games.

EHL TEAM OF THE WEEK

The Philadelphia Jr. Flyers were the last EHL Division team to kick-off their season, and they did so in grand fashion this past weekend. The Jr. Flyers won all three of their games, two of them by way of the shutout.

  • Friday, September 23rd ::: Jr. Flyers 5 - Wizards 2
  • Saturday, September 24th ::: Jr. Flyers 3 - Wizards 0
  • Sunday, September 25th ::: Jr. Flyers 1 - Express 0

Cody Murch and Alexander Johansson were each stellar between the pipes, as both goalies recorded a shutout over the weekend. Offensively, the Jr. Flyers had 14 different players record at least a point. Ludvig Nilsson collected 4 points over the weekend, while Luke Benitez and Josh Hinderliter each tallied 3 points of their own.
