BOSTON, MA -- We are officially finished with the first quarter of the 2016-17 EHL regular season. This past week featured 16 of the 17 EHL Division teams in action, and plenty of worthy candidates for our weekly honors.
We're pleased to announce that Oliver Arnberg (Philadelphia Little Flyers), Mike McPherson (Boston Jr. Rangers), and Guy Roby (Philadelphia Revolution) have been named the EHL Stars of the Week.
Also, this week's EHL Team of the Week is the Boston Jr. Rangers, with an Honorable Mention going to the Philadelphia Little Flyers.
Arnberg and the Little Flyers swept the Connecticut Oilers this past weekend in Norwalk. The pair of wins extends the Little Flyers' winning streak to 12 games, as they sit at the top of the league standings with a record of 12-0-1 (25 points).
Arnberg's five-point weekend added up to more points then he had in his first ten games of the season. The native of Nynashmns, Sweden, will look to help the Little Flyers keep things rolling when they travel to take on the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers on Saturday night, and host the New Jersey Rockets on Sunday afternoon.
McPherson and the Rangers won all three of their games this past week, extending their winning streak to four games and improving their overall record to 7-4-1 (15 points) on the season
McPherson's eight-point weekend included back-to-back hat tricks and a pair of game-winning goals. Last season McPherson was named the MVP of the EHL's EHLP Division after tallying 100 points in 38 total games (regular season and playoffs). Since moving up to the top Division this season, McPherson hasn't missed a beat, as the native of Somerville, Massachusetts is tied for 3rd in league scoring with 18 points in 12 games. The '97 will look to continue to lead the charge when the Rangers hit the ice next on November 2nd against the New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs.
Roby and Revolution won two of their three games this weekend in Boston. The Revolution are now 10-5-1 this season, four points behind the Little Flyers in the Mid-Atlantic Division standings.
Roby's six-point weekend gives him 21 points on the season, which ranks 2nd in the league behind his teammate Richard McCartney. The Revolution now get a short break before they hit the road again to face-off with the Connecticut Oilers on November 5th and 6th.
This week's EHL Team of the Week is the Boston Jr. Rangers.
The Rangers won all three of their games this past week, extending their winning streak to four games and improving their overall record to 7-4-1 (15 points) on the season. Boston is now just three points back of the Boston Bandits for first place in the Boston Division.
The Rangers get a short break before they hit the ice next on November 2nd against the New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs.
After back-to-back Team of the Week awards, the Philadelphia Little Flyers are getting recognized this week with an Honorable Mention.
The Little Flyers swept their weekend series with the Oilers.
The Little Flyers remain the only team still perfect in regulation this season. Riding a 12-game winning streak, Philadelphia plays next when they travel to take on the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers on Saturday night, and host the New Jersey Rockets on Sunday afternoon.
It's been an up and down start of the season for the Hartford Jr. Wolfpack. After losing a pair of games to the Philadelphia Little Flyers, Shane Visnick scored this game-tying goal on the way to a big 5-3 comeback victory over the Connecticut Nighthawks. #EHLTV #EasternHockey
