Savel, Evans, and Doust Named 3 Stars of the Week

BOSTON, MA -- Just like that we've got three showcases finished, and only two remaining on the schedule. Through the first 58 EHL Division games in the #EHLShowcaseSeries, the South Conference holds a 32 to 26 lead over the North Conference. The past three days featured all 17 teams in action, and plenty of worthy candidates for our weekly honors.

We're pleased to announce that Joey Savel (Philadelphia Little Flyers), Vinny Evans (Boston Bandits), and Braedan Doust (Northern Cyclones) have been named the EHL Stars of the Week.

Also, this week's EHL Team of the Week is the Philadelphia Little Flyers, with Honorable Mentions going out to Matthew Brown (New Jersey Rockets) and Eli Hernandez (New England Wolves).

Joey Savel

Savel and the Little Flyers swept the Veterans Day Showcase, shutting out both of their opponents. The pair of victories pushes the Little Flyers winning streak up to 18 games, and their point streak up to 19 games. Sitting at 18-0-1, the Little Flyers currently hold a five-point lead in the overall league standings.

  • Monday, November 14th ::: Little Flyers 2 - Wizards 0 ::: (1g, 0a, 1p)
  • Tuesday, November 15th ::: Little Flyers 4 - Warriors 0 ::: (2g, 0a, 2p)

Savel's three-goal showcase included both game-winners, which brings his GWG season total up to three. The October Forward of the Month has been on fire lately, tallying eight points in his last five games. The '97 forward from Michigan is tied for the team lead at 25 points, and he'll look to continue to lead the way this week when the Little Flyers face-off with the Boston Jr. Rangers on Saturday and the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers on Sunday.

Vinny Evans

Evans and the Bandits won three of their four games this past week, including both of their games at the Veterans Day Showcase. The Bandits currently own a nine-point lead in the Boston Division.

  • Wednesday, November 9th ::: Bandits 5 - Monarchs 3 ::: (30 saves)
  • Monday, November 14th ::: Bandits 2 - Oilers 0 ::: (28 saves)
  • Tuesday, November 15th ::: Bandits 5 - Applecore 2 ::: (24 saves)

Evans three-win week helps rank him first overall in the Premier Division with 12 total wins for the season. The native of Pennsylvania is a perfect 5-0-0 in the month of November, and he'll look to keep that record intact when the Bandits travel to take on the Valley Jr. Warriors in Haverhill on Saturday, before heading home for a short Thanksgiving break.

Braedan Doust

Doust and the Cyclones won three of their four games this past week, including their one game at the Veterans Day Showcase. The six-point week moves the Cyclones into a tie for first place in the New England Division with the New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs.

  • Tuesday, November 8th ::: Express 3 - Cyclones 1 ::: (0g, 0a, 0p)
  • Thursday, November 10th ::: Cyclones 4 - Wizards 3 ::: (2g, 0a, 2p)
  • Friday, November 11th ::: Cyclones 5 - Wolfpack 2 ::: (1g, 0a, 1p)
  • Sunday, November 13th ::: Cyclones 4 - Nighthawks 1 ::: (1g, 0a, 1p)

Doust's four-goal week also included a goal in the shootout on Thursday against the Wizards. The '97 from Syracuse, NY began the week with only two goals so far this season, and then he tripled that number up to six. With five points in his last five games, Doust will look to continue to lead the way when the Cyclones travel to take on the New England Wolves in Laconia on Saturday.

EHL Team of the Week

This week's EHL Team of the Week is the Philadelphia Little Flyers.

The Little Flyers swept the Veterans Day Showcase, shutting out both of their opponents. The pair of victories pushes the team's winning streak up to 18 games, and their point streak up to 19 games. Sitting at 18-0-1, the Little Flyers currently hold a five-point lead in the overall league standings, and an eight-point lead in the Mid-Atlantic Division.

  • Monday, November 14th ::: Little Flyers 2 - Wizards 0
  • Tuesday, November 15th ::: Little Flyers 4 - Warriors 0

The Little Flyers have their eyes set on a new record this weekend, as at least a point on Saturday will tie them for the longest point streak in EHL history (20 games, Little Flyers 2014-15). Philadelphia's current 18-game winning streak is already a new record. In 19 games so far this season, the Little Flyers are outscoring their opponents 82-22.

Alot of credit needs to be given to the Little Flyers goaltending duo that has been virtually unbeatable all season long.

Honorable Mention

This week's Honorable Mentions are going out to Matthew Brown (New Jersey Rockets) and Eli Hernandez (New England Wolves).

Brown only tallied points in one game over the weekend, but it was a stellar performance, as the '99 from New Jersey scored five goals and dished out an assist in the Rockets 12-3 win over the Wolves on Sunday night.

  • Sunday, November 13th ::: Rockets 12 - Wolves 3 ::: (5g, 1a, 6p)

Outside of their loss to the Rockets, Hernandez and Wolves swept their season series with the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers. The '98 defenseman from Colorado had the game-winner in both victories.

  • Saturday, November 12th ::: Wolves 3 - Jr. Flyers 1 ::: (1g, 0a, 1p)
  • Monday, November 14th ::: Wolves 2 - Jr. Flyers 1 ::: (2g, 0a, 1p)
