Wednesday evening the New York Applecore Premiere team traveled to Foxborough, Massachusetts to take part in the second annual St. Martin Charitable Corporation Trivia night fundraiser. The players and coaching staff put forth a valiant effort but in the end, came up short of the podium and were not able to finish in the top three, and thus went home empty handed. However, the silver lining shined through because of the cause they were there to help benefit.

The Paul St. Martin Charitable Corporation was founded in 2009 in memory of Paul St. Martin, but the name was changed to the St. Martin Family Charitable Corporation in 2012 after the passing of Paul’s brother John St. Martin. The Corporation’s mission is to seek and enhance the education of physicians for preventive cardiology, and to fund research for preventive cardiology measures. In May of 2016 the Corporation announced the creation of The St. Martin Family Research Fund at Harvard Medical School. The fund will support research into the mechanisms of cardiovascular disease in the Department of Genetics at Harvard Medical School. Both John and Paul attended Harvard University. Proceeds from the trivia night event went directly to the St. Martin Charity and towards the fund.

The New York Applecore Hockey Club would like to thank the St. Martin family for the invitation to such an outstanding event! We would especially like to thank Laura Weinberg, Greg St. Martin, Will St. Martin, Patricia St. Martin, and to all of those who helped put on this event, and to all who donated to this important cause.
