This past weekend was no exception, with 7 of 24 games being decided in either overtime or a shootout.

We're pleased to announce that Hayden Taylor (Philadelphia Jr. Flyers), Cody Murch (Philadelphia Jr. Flyers), and Dylan Carabia (Walpole Express) have been named the EHL Stars of the Week.

Also, this week's EHL Team of the Week is the New England Wolves, with Honorable Mentions going out to the Boston Jr. Rangers and the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers.

Hayden Taylor

Taylor and the Jr. Flyers won all three of their games at the Hooksett Showcase, improving their overall record to 21-8-3 (45 points). The Jr. Flyers are riding a seven-game winning streak and currently sit in 3rd place in the South Conference standings.

  • Tuesday, January 17th ::: Jr. Flyers 2 - Cyclones 1 ::: (1g, 0a, 1p)

Taylor's six-point weekend included all 4 goals in Sunday's win over the Vermont Lumberjacks. The 6'4" native of Michigan now has 24 points in 33 games for the Jr. Flyers, and will look to keep things rolling when they return home to host the Boston Bandits on Saturday night.

Cody Murch

You can call him the "EHL Showcase Series MVP" as Murch wins Star of the week Honors once again. The '97 netminder has now won the honor four times this season, including three times following a showcase.

Murch shined the brightest during showcase play, and this past weekend was no different as he won all three games between the pipes for the Jr. Flyers.

  • Sunday, January 15th ::: Jr. Flyers 4 - Lumberjacks 0 ::: (27 saves)
  • Monday, January 16th ::: Jr. Flyers 2 - Warriors 0 ::: (21 saves)
  • Tuesday, January 17th ::: Jr. Flyers 2 - Cyclones 1 ::: (31 saves)

Murch stopped 79 of the 80 shots he faced while improving his overall record to 15-4-2 (7-1-1 in showcase play). The native of North Carolina also lowered his GAA to 1.56 (1.00 in showcase play), and picked up his 5th and 6th shutouts of the season (5 in showcase play).

Dylan Carabia

Carabia and the Express won three of their four games this past week, including two of three at the Hooksett Showcase. Walpole is now 19-8-2 on the season, just two points back of the Boston Jr. Rangers for the top spot in the Boston Division.

  • Wednesday, January 11th ::: Express 5 - Bandits 4 ::: (0g, 1a, 1p)
  • Sunday, January 15th ::: Express 4 - Oilers 3 ::: (1g, 0a, 1p)
  • Monday, January 16th ::: Nighthawks 1 - Express 0 ::: (0g, 0a, 0p)
  • Tuesday, January 17th ::: Express 6 - Applecore 1 ::: (1g, 2a, 3p)

Carabia's five-point week included the overtime winner against the Connecticut Oilers on Sunday. The native of Sebastian, Florida is now ranked 3rd on the team in scoring with 28 points in 29 games. The '96 defenseman will look to continue to lead his team as they get set for a big matchup tomorrow afternoon in Tewksbury, MA against the Boston Jr. Rangers.

EHL Team of the Week

This week's EHL Team of the Week is the New England Wolves.

The Wolves put together a big showcase weekend that included wins over the Philadelphia Little Flyers and Philadelphia Revolution. After knocking off the pair of Mid-Atlantic Division teams, the Wolves became the first team in the EHL Division to beat all three Philadelphia squads this year.

  • Sunday, January 15th ::: Wolves 2 - Little Flyers 1 (OT)
  • Tuesday, January 17th ::: Wolves 4 - Revolution 3

While they still have some work to do at 6-23-3 (15 points), four of their six wins have come against teams ranked in the top-five in the league standings.

The Wolves will look to pick up where they left off when they face-off against the only team they lost to this past weekend, Connecticut Oilers, this Friday afternoon in Norwalk, CT.

Honorable Mention

This week's Honorable Mentions are going out to the Boston Jr. Rangers and the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers.

Both the Rangers and the Jr. Flyers swept all three of their games at the Hooksett Showcase, and now with the Philadelphia Little Flyers losing this past weekend, they each own the two longest active winning streaks in the league.

The Rangers knocked off the New York Applecore (Sunday), Hartford Jr. Wolfpack (Monday), and Connecticut Oilers (Tuesday) while stretching their winning streak to ten games.

The Jr. Flyers knocked off the Vermont Lumberjacks (Sunday), Vermont Lumberjacks (Monday), and Northern Cyclones (Tuesday) while stretching their winning streak to seven games.

There is still a lot of hockey left to be played, but each team is trending up as we head towards the final stretch in the regular season.

While on paper the matchup lined them up as the underdog, Ethan Homitz and the New England Wolves hung tight with the Philadelphia Little Flyers for all 50 minutes of regulation play on Sunday. In overtime, both teams had a few chances before Homitz made this sensational move, ultimately ending the Little Flyers winning streak at 30 games. #EHLTV
