Arnberg, Boutoussov, and Flynn Named 3 Stars of the Week

BOSTON, MA -- We've turned the corner, and started our way down the final stretch of the 2016-17 regular season in the Eastern Hockey League. This past weekend featured 16 of the 17 EHL teams in action, and plenty of worthy candidates for our weekly honors.

We're pleased to announce that Oliver Arnberg (Philadelphia Little Flyers), Paul Boutoussov (Valley Jr. Warriors), and Donny Flynn (New Jersey Rockets) have been named the EHL Stars of the Week.

Also, this week's EHL Team of the Week is the New Jersey Rockets, with Honorable Mentions going out to Brycon Johnson (Philadelphia Revolution) and Adam Papayoanou (Philadelphia Jr. Flyers).

Oliver Arnberg

Arnberg and the Little Flyers bounced back this past weekend with a two-game sweep of the Hartford Jr. Wolfpack. Philadelphia continues to set the pace at the top of the league standings, with a record of 33-1-2 (68 points).

  • Saturday, January 21st ::: Little Flyers 7 - Wolfpack 0 ::: (2g, 1a, 3p)
  • Sunday, January 22nd ::: Little Flyers 5 - Wolfpack 2 ::: (1g, 1a, 2p)

Arnberg's five-point weekend included the game-winner on Saturday, his 2nd of the season. The native of Nynashmns, Sweden has an even 36 points in 36 games for Philadelphia this season. The Little Flyers have a big week ahead of them as they finish off a delayed game with the New Jersey Rockets on Wednesday. Following the conclusion of the delayed game, the Little Flyers and Rockets will face-off again, and then Philadelphia gets the New York Applecore on Saturday and Sunday. All four games are in the home confines of the Ice Works Complex in Aston, PA.

Arnberg was also named a Star of the Week back in October.

Paul Boutoussov

Boutoussov and the Warriors swept their pair of weekend games and improved their overall record to 19-10-3 (41 points) on the season. Valley is now tied for 2nd place in the Boston Division with the Walpole Express.

  • Friday, January 20th ::: Warriors 7 - Rangers 1 ::: (2g, 2a, 4p)
  • Saturday, January 21st ::: Warriors 5 - Rangers 3 ::: (1g, 1a, 2p)

Boutoussov's six-point weekend helped the Warriors extend their win streak up to three games. The native of California has scored the game-winner in all three wins for the Warriors, and he has eight points in the three games. The first two wins also ended the Philadelphia Little Flyers' 33-game point streak, and the Boston Jr. Rangers' 11-game winning streak.

The Warriors have a huge week ahead of them with home games against the New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs (Wednesday), and the Walpole Express (Saturday and Sunday).

Donny Flynn

Flynn and the Rockets shut out their pair of weekend games, and improved their record to 17-16-0 (34 points) on the season. New Jersey stays locked into the #4 spot in the Mid-Atlantic Division, and the #5 seed in the South Conference.

  • Saturday, January 21st ::: Rockets 1 - Nighthawks 0 ::: (1g, 0a, 1p)
  • Sunday, January 22nd ::: Rockets 6 - Oilers 0 ::: (1g, 4a, 5p)

Flynn's six-point weekend include the game-winner against the Connecticut Nighthawks on Saturday. The '96 forward was involved in six of the seven total goals the Rockets scored this past weekend. After tallying 54 points in 41 total games last season, Flynn is on pace to surpass those numbers this year with already 51 points in the first 34 games.

The Rockets will now get set for a pair of games against both the Philadelphia Little Flyers and Connecticut Nighthawks this week.
