Manning, Vail, and Visnick Named 3 Stars of the Week

BOSTON, MA -- The battle for playoff positioning is heating up in both the North Conference and the South Conference. This was in full effect this past week, along with a pair of winter storms that drove up the east coast. It was busy six days in the EHL, and with all 17 teams in action, there were plenty of worthy candidates for our weekly honors.

We're pleased to announce that Matthew Manning (Philadelphia Jr. Flyers), Mac Vail (Philadelphia Jr. Flyers), and Shane Visnick (Hartford Jr. Wolfpack) have been named the EHL Stars of the Week.

Also, this week's EHL Team of the Week is the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers, with Honorable Mention awards going to Johnny Andrews (Boston Jr. Rangers), Richard McCartney (Philadelphia Revolution), and Bryce Witman (Philadelphia Revolution).

Matthew Manning

Manning and the Jr. Flyers won all three of their games this past week, extending their winning streak up to eight games. Philadelphia has been rolling dating back to the December Showcase, as they are 16-0-1 in their last 17 games.

Manning's six-point weekend included the game-winner against the Connecticut Oilers on Sunday. The '96 forward from Michigan is hot lately, as he has at least a point in each game during the Jr. Flyers current winning streak. Manning has 31 total points on the season, and he'll look to continue to lead his team offensively down the stretch.

Mac Vail

Vail and the Jr. Flyers won all three of their games this past week, and moved into 2nd place in the overall league standings. This position in the standings could prove to be extremely vital, as after the first round of the EHL Playoffs, the North and South Conferences combine together for the final three rounds of the postseason.

Vail's three-win weekend improves his season record up to 13-8-1, and that includes an 11-1-2 record since joining the Jr. Flyers. The '96 netminder from New York will look to continue to anchor his team, with three huge road games on the schedule this week. The Jr. Flyers take on the Philadelphia Little Flyers on Wednesday, and then head North to face-off with the Boston Jr. Rangers on Saturday and the Walpole Express on Sunday.

Shane Visnick

Visnick and the Wolfpack swept their weekend series with the New York Applecore, moving themselves back in 1st place in the Central Division. Hartford currently owns a two-point lead over the Connecticut Oilers, with each team having played 42 of their 48 regular season games.

Visnick's five-point weekend included the game-winner on Saturday night, and earned him his 2nd Star of the Week honor of the season (EHL 3 STARS OF THE WEEK 12/7 TO 12/11). The Captain of the Wolfpack has been a true leader for his team, tallying 46 points and having played in every game this season. The native of Florida will look to keep things rolling when Hartford hosts the New Jersey Rockets on Saturday, and the Connecticut Oilers on Sunday.

EHL Team of the Week

This week's EHL Team of the Week is the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers.

The Jr. Flyers are rolling right now, having won 8 straight games, 16 of their last 17, and 19 of their last 22. Since the beginning of December, Philadelphia has been one of the best teams in the EHL and that trend continued this past week.

  • Wednesday, February 8th ::: Jr. Flyers 5 - Revolution 1
  • Saturday, February 11th ::: Jr. Flyers 6 - Oilers 1
  • Sunday, February 12th ::: Jr. Flyers 3 - Oilers 2 (OT)

Led by this week's EHL Stars, Matthew Manning and Mac Vail, the Jr. Flyers have firmly taken over 2nd place in the overall league standings. Making a push for the top spot may be hard, but if anyone has a chance, it's the Jr. Flyers.

Philadelphia gets an opportunity to cut into the nine-point margin on Wednesday, as they travel to take on the Philadelphia Little Flyers at Ice Works Complex. Following Wednesday's showdown, the Jr. Flyers head North to face-off with the Boston Jr. Rangers on Saturday and the Walpole Express on Sunday.

Honorable Mentions

This week's Honorable Mention awards go out to Johnny Andrews (Boston Jr. Rangers), Richard McCartney (Philadelphia Revolution), and Bryce Witman (Philadelphia Revolution).

This past week was a tough one for the New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs, as they dropped two of their three games. However, this tip-in from Derek Tillotson helped get things going in the right direction this past Wednesday. The Monarchs went on to knock-off the Walpole Express by the score of 5-2. #EHLTV
