2016-17 STARS OF THE MONTH

FORWARDS OF THE MONTH

Make that back-to-back months for Richie McCartney, as he earns himself Star of the Month honors once again. The '96 forward from Hershey, Pennsylvania continues to shine as one of the EHL's top scorers. McCartney added 16 more points to his season total, giving him 71 points through 45 games. McCartney is currently two points back of Donny Flynn (New Jersey Rockets) for the scoring title, and he will have two games this weekend to Flynn's one, with a chance of the Regular Season crown.

Flip over to the 19U Elite Division and Mason Emoff has essentially already clinched the scoring title. With 95 points in 39 games, the next highest scorer in the Elite Division is his teammate Andrew Bechard (70 points). This past month was another steady set of games for Emoff, tallying 19 points in eight games for Vermont. The '98 forward was a key factor is his team winning the Regular Season Championship, and with two games left, Emoff now has his sights set on the 100-point mark.

DEFENSEMEN OF THE MONTH

Marc Happy takes home Defenseman of the Month honors in the Premier Division after racking up nine points in nine games for the Connecticut Oilers. The Oilers captain finishes the regular season as the top scoring defenseman in the league, with 44 points in 48 games. Happy was a leader for his team, both by playing in every game, and by scoring three game-winning goals over the course of the season. The '96 defenseman's game-winner on February 26th against the New York Applecore, may prove to be the goal that gives his team the Central Division title.

For the 19U Elite Division, Aleck Forcier earns the top honor once again. The New England Wolves are heading towards the postseason with momentum, and Forcier was a key part of their winning streak in February. The '98 defenseman added nine more points to his season total, giving him 52 points in 35 games. Forcier and the Wolves will look to clinch home ice in the playoffs when they finish off the regular season against the Boston Bandits on Sunday.

GOALIES OF THE MONTH

Mac Vail is the Goalie of the Month in the Premier Division, and he could also be labeled as the 'Most Valuable Player' for February. The '96 netminder was stellar while winning all ten of his starts, helping to send his team into the postseason on a 14-game winning streak and a 23-game point streak. Vail is now 17-1-2 since joining the Jr. Flyers in November, to go along with a 1.47 GAA and 3 shutouts during that time. Vail and Jr. Flyers enter the playoffs as the #3 seed in the South Conference, and are ranked #2 in the overall league standings.

In the 19U Elite Division, another undefeated goalie is being honored. Eric Roy went 5-0-0 in February, improving his overall record up to 14-0-0 for the season. Similar to Emoff, Roy has been a major factor in his team's success during the regular season, and has Vermont feeling good heading into the playoffs. The '99 netminder will look to finish off the regular season blemish free when the Lumberjacks travel south to take on the Jr. Flyers and Revolution this weekend in Philadelphia.
