2016-17 MVP Set to Join the Cardinals

PLATTSBURGH, NY -- Dating back to the formation of the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) in 2013, a total of 13 players have made their commitments to SUNY Plattsburgh while playing in the #Eshow. Playing out of the one of the tougher Division III conferences in the SUNYAC, the Plattsburgh Cardinals have been a consistent contender year in and year out.

“We have had success recruiting out of the EHL, mainly because the coaches are great communicators and do not look down at Division III schools,” said SUNY Plattsburgh head coach Bob Emery.

While the EHL has helped a number of players realize their Division I dreams, there's also something to be said about competing for a National Championship at the Division III level. Plattsburgh is in this conversation every year, with a pair of titles to Emery's name. The success under Emery stretchers farther then the National Titles as during his time he has also led the Cardinals to 16 SUNYAC Championships, 18 NCAA Division III Championship tournament appearances and 10 NCAA Division III Final Fours.

This Fall the Cardinals will be bolstering their lineup with the 2016-17 EHL Most Valuable Player, Richard McCartney. McCartney also earned Forward of the Year, and 1st Team All-Star for the South Conference honors this past season. It's safe to say that the Plattsburgh Cardinals are a team to continue to watch in the near future.

Be sure to check back in again next week for a new EHL Pipeline of the Week.
