Kane, Grinvalds, and Paglucca Earn EHL Weekly Honors

BOSTON, MA -- You can say that the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) season is now officially underway, as all 16 teams have played at least one game and the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers title defense has begun. This past week featured 16 games over six days, and plenty of worthy candidates for our weekly honors.

The EHL is pleased to announce that Cullen Kane (Connecticut RoughRiders), Nick Grinvalds (Boston Jr. Rangers), and Michael Paglucca (New Hampshire Avalanche) have been named the TSR Hockey Stars of the Week.

Another big week in the EHL starts tomorrow and features 17 total games through Sunday. The next set of TSR Hockey Stars of the Week will be released on Monday, October 2nd at 2:00pm. Catch the #Eshow action all season long on HockeyTV.

Forward - Cullen Kane (Connecticut RoughRiders)

Led by Kane, the RoughRiders picked up two big road victories this past weekend over the New England Wolves (4-2) and the Vermont Lumberjacks (5-2). The '97 from Buffalo was the offensive catalyst for his team with two goals and four assists, and his big weekend included the game-winner on Saturday in Vermont. For the season, Kane now has six goals and four assists, and his ten total points put him in a tie for the 5th most in the EHL. Kane will look to pick up where he left off when the RoughRiders hit the road for pair of games this weekend against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights.

Defenseman - Nick Grinvalds (Boston Jr. Rangers)

Holding strong on the blue line this past weekend, Grinvalds tallied a game-winner, dished out three assists, and owned a +6 rating. The big defenseman from New Jersey has been a key factor to his team's 3-0-0 start to the season, and that was very apparent this past weekend as the Rangers beat the New York Applecore by the score of 6-3 on Saturday, and then followed things up with an 8-1 victory over the New York Bobcats Royals on Sunday. Grinvalds now has at least a point in all three of his team's games this season, and is well on his way to surpassing his totals from last year. Grinvalds currently has five points on the year, which matches his total in 37 games last season. The Rangers will lean on their big defenseman again this weekend as they welcome the Philadelphia Little Flyers (Friday) and Philadelphia Jr. Flyers (Saturday) to town.

Goaltender - Michael Paglucca (New Hampshire Avalanche)

There were five total shutouts this past week in the EHL, but only one goaltender register two of them, as Paglucca shut the door on the East Coast Wizards (Wednesday) and the Walpole Express (Saturday). The '97 now owns a 2-1-0 record for the season, to go along with a 0.67 GAA and .975 Save Percentage. Paglucca ranks towards the top of all goaltenders in the EHL, and he'll to stay hot as the Avalanche hit to road to face-off with the Vermont Lumberjacks on Wednesday and then play host to the New York Applecore (Saturday) and the New York Bobcats Royals (Sunday).

Honorable Mentions - Collett, Paxson, and Kramsky

This week's honorable mentions are going out to the other three shutouts from the week that was in the EHL.

The Total Athletics Seahawks pitched back to back 3-0 shutouts over the Valley Jr. Warriors, with Brandan Collett and DJ Paxson splitting the duties between the pipes.

For the Philadelphia Revolution, the train kept rolling this weekend as they improved their record to 6-0-0 for season. Logan Kramsky got the nod on Sunday and made 29 saves in the 3-0 victory over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights.
