Witman, Barber, and Lutz Earn EHL Weekly Honors

BOSTON, MA -- Cross off another week for the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), and we're now set and ready for the first showcase of the season. This past week featured all 16 EHL teams in action, and plenty of worthy candidates for our weekly honors.

The EHL is pleased to announce that Bryce Witman (Philadelphia Revolution), Andrew Barber (Vermont Lumberjacks), and Korbinian Lutz (East Coast Wizards) have been named the TSR Hockey Stars of the Week.

The EHL is now set for the 1st showcase of the season at Rodman Arena (Walpole, MA). Click here for a complete schedule of this upcoming weekend's games. The next set of TSR Hockey Stars of the Week will be released following the showcase this upcoming Tuesday, October 17th. Catch the #Eshow action all season long on HockeyTV.

Forward - Bryce Witman (Philadelphia Revolution)

For the 2nd time this season, Witman has been named a TSR Hockey Star of the Week. The '98 forward earned his 1st honor following a week 1 performance that saw him tally 8 points in a weekend sweep of the New York Bobcats Royals. This time around, Witman racked up 7 points in a weekend sweep of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights. Through the first 11 games this season, the Pennsylvania native is tied for the league lead with 24 points. Philadelphia is a perfect 11-0-0 heading into the October Showcase that has them set to face-off with the Valley Jr. Warriors on Friday and the Vermont Lumberjacks on Saturday.

Defenseman - Andrew Barber (Vermont Lumberjacks)

Make that 2 in a row for Barber, as the Lumberjacks defenseman takes home another EHL honor. After being held off the scoresheet in the first 3 games of the season, the '97 has been a key factor for his team and their current 5-game winning streak. Over the stretch, Barber has tallied 9 total points, 7 of which have come in October, and 4 of which came this past weekend. Barber started started things off with a pair of assists and the overtime winner against the New York Applecore on Saturday, and then capped off the weekend with a pair of assists in Sunday's victory over the New York Bobcats Royals. The Lumberjacks now get set for a big matchup with the New Hampshire Avalanche this afternoon, and then they'll face-off with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights and Philadelphia Revolution at this weekend's showcase.

Goaltender - Korbinian Lutz (East Coast Wizards)

After only lasting 1 period in his 1st EHL start, the German netminder has bounced back in a big way for the Wizards. Lutz kicked off the week with a 22-save shutout performance over the Total Athletics Seahawks this past Wednesday. The win was Lutz's 1st of the season, and gave him confidence heading into his next matchup with the Boston Jr. Rangers. Lutz faced more shots against him yesterday, but only let 1 get by him, helping lead the Wizards to victory over the current 1st place team in the Boston Division. Lutz and the Wizards have now won 3 straight after starting 1-4-0, and they will face-off with the Connecticut RoughRiders (Friday) and the New York Applecore (Saturday) this weekend.

Honorable Mentions - Araujo, Kramsky, and Sorgio

Outside of this week's stars, there were a few other performances that the EHL would like to recognize.

Matthew Araujo and the Bobcats Royals have endured a difficult start to the season, but the '97 has still turned a lot of heads while averaging just over a point per game so far this year. Araujo racked up five points this past weekend and that included a 4-point night against the New England Wolves on Saturday.

Switching over to the men that stand between the pipes, Logan Kramsky picked up his 4th win and 2nd shutout of the season this past Sunday for the Revolution. Kramsky is now 4-0-0 on the year with a 1.25 GAA.

In the North, Nick Sorgio also registered a shutout this past weekend, his 2nd in as many starts. The Avalanche netminder is now 3-0-0 for the season, to go along with a 1.00 GAA.
