Avalanche Defenseman Joins Growing List of Commitments

HOOKSETT, NH -- Devin Hines, a defenseman for the New Hampshire Avalanche, has committed to Bryn Athyn College for the Fall of 2018. The '97 is in his second season in the EHL and first with the Avalanche. Through his first 25 games this year, Hines has tallied 8 points, including the game-winning goal against the Total Athletics Seahawks back on October 20th.

"Over the past two seasons Devin has done a great job working on his game," said Avalanche head coach and general manager Chris Cerrella. "He was raw in his first EHL season and at times struggled to find consistency. Over this season he has become one of the best defensive defensemen I have seen. He does all the right things; he moves the puck, doesn't get beat, and plays tough around the net. He has learned to be tough to beat and very efficient. He is a good addition for Andrew Burke [Head Coach] at Bryn Athyn, and I wish him and his family nothing but the best. I have known the Hines family for a long time as his cousin Tyler [Junior at Western New England] also played for me. They are a great hockey family and I am very excited for Devin."

This past season, Cerrella had 3 different players make their commitments to join Bryn Athyn. Connor DevereuxJimmy Lockamyeir, and Nick Malvasi have all played a role in the Lions' inaugural season at the Division III level. Coach Burke is excited to add another EHL alum to his roster next Fall.

"We are thrilled to have Devin join our program next fall," said Burke. "We know what type of player we get from Coach Cerrella. His guys are always dedicated, driven, hard-working and coach-able players. Devin fits in our program perfectly as he is a good skater and puck mover from the back end. He will have an immediate impact on our defensive core come next Fall. We look forward to having Devin help us continue to build our program."

Last, but certainly not least, Hines took some time reflect on his commitment and thank all of those who helped him along the way.

"After talking with my family and coaches I am very proud to choose Bryn Athyn College to continue my athletic and academic career," said Hines. "Thank you to my teammates; this is the best team I have been on both on the ice and in the locker room. I would also like to thank head coach Chris Cerrella, strength coach Justin Soryal and team president Mario Martiniello for helping me become a better player and person every day. Most importantly I would like to thank my family for helping me fulfill my dream of playing college hockey. Without them none of this would have been possible."
