Kapoian, Manning, and Djurberg Earn EHL Weekly Honors

BOSTON, MA -- We're down to the final 90 games in the regular season in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), and the playoff races are heating up. With all 16 teams in action this past week, there were plenty of worthy candidates for our weekly honors.

The EHL is pleased to announce that Martin Kapoian (Philadelphia Revolution), Patrick Manning (Vermont Lumberjacks), and Olof Djurberg (Connecticut Oilers) have been named the TSR Hockey Stars of the Week.

The week ahead features a total of 15 games from Wednesday to Monday, and the next set of TSR Hockey Stars of the Week will be released on Monday, February 5th at 4:00pm. Catch the #Eshow action all season long on HockeyTV.

FORWARD - Martin Kapoian (Philadelphia Revolution)

Kapoian and the Revolution took care of business in their only game of the week, shutting out the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers by the score of 5-0 on Friday. The '98 forward picked up assists on all 3 of Tino Alunni's goals, and then found the back of the net twice himself. While factoring in on every goal that his team scored, Kapoian raised his season totals up to 43 points in 37 games to date. Philadelphia is currently tied for the top spot in both the Mid-Atlantic Division and South Conference with the Philadelphia Little Flyers, however with 4 games in hand, the Revolution appear to be in the driver's seat as we head down the home stretch. The top-ranked team in the #Eshow Power Rankings will host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights on Wednesday and then the Connecticut Oilers on Saturday and Sunday.

DEFENSEMAN - Patrick Manning (Vermont Lumberjacks)

Manning and the Lumberjacks won all three of their games this past weekend, improving their overall record up to 19-19-2 for the year. Vermont currently finds themselves in 5th place in the North Conference standings with ten games remaining. Manning led the way from the blue line this past weekend, tallying three goals and an assist in the three games. For the season, the native of New York now has 31 points through 39 total games. The Lumberjacks have won 5 of their last 7 contests, and will look to stay hot when they host the East Coast Wizards in a potential playoff preview on Monday.

GOALTENDER - Olof Djurberg (Connecticut Oilers)

Djurberg and the Oilers won both of their games this past weekend, with the Swedish netminder in net for both victories. The '97 began the weekend with a 44-save effort against the New York Applecore on Thursday, and then capped things off with his first EHL shutout against the New York Bobcats Royals on Friday. Djurberg has now won three straight games, and has stopped 84 shots in that span. The Oilers are currently holding down the 6th and final playoff spot in the South Conference, with the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers trailing them by just three points. Connecticut begins a key road trip this weekend with two matchups against the Philadelphia Revolution, and then will head right back down to Pennsylvania again next weekend, for a pair of games with the Jr. Flyers.

HONORABLE MENTIONS - Sverdlov, Discanio, Panzeca, and Shuett

This week, the EHL would like recognize four scorers who filled up the scoresheets for their respective teams.

While Olof Djurberg did his job between the pipes, Val Sverdlov led the offensive charge for the Connecticut Oilers. The '97 racked up five goals and an assist, all while running his point streak up to six games. To date, Sverdlov now has an even 26 points in 26 games since joining the Oilers in late October.

Flipping over to the North Conference, and Logan Discanio found the back of the net four total times this past weekend for the Vermont Lumberjacks. The '99 was also clutch with his tallies, as a pair of his goals stood as the game-winners for his team.

Last, but not least, Devin Panzeca and Dylan Schuett each extended their point streaks for the East Coast Wizards. Panzeca's pair of goals along with a trio of assists, ran his streak up to 11 games. Shuett is right there with his linemate, as his 11-game point streak includes three goals and an assist from this past week.
