Pray, Nyblom, and Sorgio Earn EHL Weekly Honors

BOSTON, MA -- We can check off another busy week in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), as the parity continues to show itself as we head towards the postseason. This past week featured a number of great matchups, and the results on Sunday put a bow on a great set of action. The final day of the week featured 12 of the 16 teams as all six games yesterday were decided by just two goals or less, with a pair of those games needing overtime to determine a winner. All in all, with action on every day of the week, there were plenty of worthy candidates for our latest set of honors.

The EHL is pleased to announce that Trevor Pray (Walpole Express), August Nyblom (Connecticut RoughRiders), and Nick Sorgio (New Hampshire Avalanche) have been named the TSR Hockey Stars of the Week.

The week ahead features 20 more games from Tuesday to Monday, and the next set of TSR Hockey Stars of the Week will be released on Tuesday, February 20th at 9:00am. Catch the #Eshow action all season long on HockeyTV.

FORWARD - Trevor Pray (Walpole Express)

Pray and the Express won both of their games this past weekend, beating the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights by the score of 5-2 on Saturday and the Philadelphia Revolution 4-2 on Sunday. The pair of wins catapults the Express into the top spot in the latest set of #Eshow Power Rankings. The '98 from Tonawanda, NY scored over half of his team's goals, as he found the net twice on Saturday, and then he notched his first hat-trick of the season on Sunday. The Express are in a very tight battle with the Boston Jr. Rangers, as each team is fighting to win the Boston Division Regular Season Championship. This battle for the first round bye will continue when the two teams face-off at the Tsongas Center on the campus of UMass Lowell on Wednesday. Walpole will then finish off a busy week with matchups against the New England Wolves (Friday), the New York Applecore (Saturday), and the New York Bobcats Royals (Sunday).

DEFENSEMAN - August Nyblom (Connecticut RoughRiders)

Nyblom and the RoughRiders won both of their games this past week, scoring a combined 18 total goals. The '98 from Kullavik, Sweden factored in on 33% of his teams tallies, as he found the back of the net four times and dished out a pair of assists. For the season, Nyblom now has 28 points in 37 games, and his team is just a handful of points away from clinching the Central Division Regular Season Championship. The RoughRiders will try and secure the First Round bye this week when they travel to take on the Connecticut Oilers on Tuesday and then host the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers on Saturday and Sunday.

GOALTENDER - Nick Sorgio (New Hampshire Avalanche)

Sorgio and Avalanche swept their home-and-home series with the East Coast Wizards, increasing their lead in the North Conference up to eight points over the Boston Jr. Rangers. Sorgio was stellar both as a starter and in relief for the Avalanche. The '98 netminder stopped 46 of the 48 total shots that he faced, and ran his season win total up to 15. In his past three appearances Sorgio has allowed just a single goal each time, while lowering his GAA down to a phenomenal 1.37 mark. With the New England Division Regular Season Championship already clinched, Sorgio and the Avalanche will look to lock up the #1 seed in the conference when they host the Valley Jr. Warriors on Wednesday and Thursday this week.

HONORABLE MENTIONS - Collett, McPherson, Manning, and Stenberg

This week the EHL would like to recognize four different players with Honorable Mentions, following their solid performances.

After a tough afternoon against the Boston Jr. Rangers on Friday, Brandon Collett bounced back with a 37-save performance against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights on Sunday. With the win the Total Athletics Seahawks kept themselves within three points of the 6th and final playoff spot in the North Conference.

Moving over to the Rangers, Mike McPherson made an immediate impact in his return to the EHL. The Rangers posted a 3-0-1 record in their four games this week, and the '97 forward tallied six goals and three assists to his name.

Patrick Manning and the Vermont Lumberjacks swept their weekend series with the Valley Jr. Warriors, as the '97 defenseman had a goal and an assist in each contest. Manning also now has at least a point in his last five games.

Last, but not least, Garrett Stenberg was an anchor in net for the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers as they swept their two-game set with the Connecticut Oilers and moved past them for the 6th and final playoff spot in the South Conference. Philadelphia will continue to rely on their '97 netminder with seven games remaining in the regular season.
