Avalanche Forward Set to Join Teammate this Fall

HOOKSETT, NH -- Melker Kroon, a forward for the New Hampshire Avalanche, has committed to the UMass Dartmouth for the Fall of 2018. The '97 from Limhamn, Sweden is in his first season in the EHL, and through 39 games has tallied 22 total points to his name.

"Melker is a good hockey player and an even better young man," said Avalanche head coach and general manager Chris Cerrella. "He has speed, a great shot, and works hard every shift for us. He is going to be a good addition for Coach Noack next season and I look forward to keeping track of him with the Corsairs. I am very proud of Melker and I wish him and his family nothing but the best in the future."

When Melker arrives on the UMass Dartmouth campus, he will do so with the comfort of already knowing one of his teammates. Derek Britner is the Captain of the Avalanche this season, and he also made his commitment to join the Corsairs this Fall. Kroon took some time to reflect on Britner and the rest of his teammates from this season, and thank all of those who helped him along the way.

"I would like to thank the Avalanche organization for an amazing season so far," said Kroon. "I would like to thank Coach Cerrella for recruiting me to this team and for helping me become a better player and person on and off the ice. He has helped me reach my goal and got me ready for the next level as a student athlete. Also a big thank you to our owner and Assistant Coach [Mario Martiniello] for making this possible as well. I would like to send a special thank you to my family back home in Sweden. They have supported me and helped me make this possible and for that I am forever grateful.  I am really excited for the playoff race with my teammates and even more excited about heading to UMass Dartmouth and entering the next stage in my life. GO CORSAIRS!"
