Rangers Forward Set to Join Teammate this Fall

TEWKSBURY, MA -- Tyler Gardiner, a forward for the Boston Jr. Rangers, has committed to the University of Southern Maine for the Fall of 2018. Gardiner is in his second season with the Rangers, and to date, has tallied 44 points in 88 career games in the EHL.

"We are very proud of Tyler’s commitment to USM," said Rangers head coach and general manager Rich DeCaprio. "He’s worked very hard his whole hockey career to achieve this opportunity. The last two years with us he really grew. He’s going to have a great college career."

Gardiner has already surpassed his 2016-17 season for points so far this year, and has produced well alongside Danny Sorabella (committed to Wesleyan University) and Ryan Tierney (committed to Salem State). The native of Watertown, MA will join Bobby Kinsey this Fall, who also recently committed to the Huskies. Gardiner took some time to reflect on his decision and thank those that helped him along the way.

"I am very happy to be attending the University of Southern Maine in the Fall," said Gardiner. "I would like to thank Coach DeCaprio, Coach Blair, and all of my teammates for helping me become the person and player that I am. I've had a lot of fun these past two years and I am looking forward to the next four with Coach Harding and his team. Go Huskies!"

Gardiner and the Rangers are set for a huge matchup this afternoon, as they battle Walpole Express at 12:30pm. Today's showdown is extra special for the players, as it will take place at the Tsongas Center on the campus of UMass Lowell.
