Lumberjacks Forward Set to Join CCC Champs this Fall

BURLINGTON, VT -- Kyle McDonald, a forward for the Vermont Lumberjacks, has committed to Nichols College for the Fall of 2018. McDonald just finished his third season with the Lumberjacks, and his second year at the EHL level. Through two full seasons, McDonald tallied 110 points in 103 career games in the EHL.

"Kyle McDonald exemplifies exactly what the Lumberjacks are about," said Lumberjacks head coach and general manager Jim Mosso. "He started on the second team a few years ago and bought into our system. Through hard work and a willingness to learn, Kyle developed into one of the best players in the Eastern Hockey League. He became one of the most sought after players on the east coast by colleges, and I think he made a great decision choosing Nichols. Best of luck to Kyle in his college career."

McDonald is following in the footsteps of Nathan Foster, who was with the Lumberjacks this past season, and is currently in his freshmen season at Nichols. McDonald will join Foster this Fall, in a season that will be filled with high hopes and pressure on the Bison. Nichols just won the league title this past weekend, and they will surely be a big target in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) next season. McDonald is looking forward to the next chapter in his journey, and he took some time to give thanks.

"Playing for the Lumberjacks for the last three years has allowed me to fulfill my dream of playing college hockey," said McDonald. "Being in the same organization all the way through my junior hockey career isn't something that most people are able to do, but doing so has allowed me to grow within the program and become a leader. I was someone who was originally just going to college until Coach Mosso recruited me the summer before what would have been my freshman year. To be here three years later is something I didn't think was possible."
