'97 Forward Makes First Commitment for the Oilers

HAMDEN, CT -- Val Sverdlov, a forward for the Connecticut Oilers, has committed to Castleton University for the Fall of 2018. After joining the Oilers in late October, the '97 racked up 33 points in 36 regular season games.

"Val is a shoot first player and he is very skilled around the net," said Oilers head coach and general manager Karl Linden. "He has a high-end snapshot and he is going to only get better over four seasons of college hockey. He had a lot of choices; and he went on a lot of visits; Castleton was his choice and it is a great fit."

When Sverdlov arrives at Castleton, he will be joined by Cory Ellerton of the Total Athletics Seahawks and Andrew Barber of the Vermont Lumberjacks. Both EHL players made their decisions to join the Spartans earlier this year, and the incoming freshmen class will only add to the pipeline that has formed between the EHL and Castleton University.
