Express Goaltender Set to Join New Program this Fall

WALPOLE, MA -- Max Flynn, a goaltender for the Walpole Express, has committed to Wilkes University for the Fall of 2018. After spending the 2016-17 season with the Express at the Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP) level, the '98 netminder made the jump up to the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) this past season.

"Max was nothing short of spectacular this season and really stepped up his game when we needed him," said Express head coach and general manager Jon Lounsbury. "He has a great sense of humor, works hard, and does everything that is asked of him. It’s no surprise that he’s moving on to play NCAA hockey.”

From the EHLP, to the EHL, to the college hockey. Flynn is the fifth commitment of Walpole's 2017-18 team, that played the previous season with the Express at the EHLP level. The dedication to the process was huge in terms of Flynn's development, as he won 15 games for the Express during that 2016-17 campaign. Flip over to this year, and Flynn was 17-5-3 in 25 total starts in the EHL. The native of Wenatchee, WA took some time to look back at his time with the Express.

“I've always believed in the program and what Coach Lounsbury had to offer," said Flynn. "Everything that was promised was given and I couldn't be happier with where I am today. I also would like to thank my parents for the support over the years."

Flynn joins Ryan Galvin of the Philadelphia Little Flyers, as the first two commits looking to help lead the Colonels in their inaugural season at the Division III level. Wilkes University is located in Wilkes-Barre, PA and they are set to join the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) this Fall.
