Express Forward Set to Join NCHA this Fall

WALPOLE, MA -- William Lebel, a forward for the Walpole Express, has committed to Lake Forest College for the Fall of 2018. After racking up 20 points in 44 games during the 2016-17 season with the New England Wolves, the '98 more than doubled his point total this past year. The native of Canada, finished the 2017-18 campaign with 21 goals and 29 assists in 47 total games.

"Will was a great addition for the Express this past season," said Express head coach and general manager Jon Lounsbury. "His hard work and dedication to his game paid off big time as he was able to double his goal total from one year ago. He's a great team guy and a great young man who will be hard to replace. I know he will have a successful college career for the Foresters."

Lebel is one of two EHL players set to begin their collegiate hockey careers at Lake Forest this Fall, as he will be joined by Cullen Kane of the Connecticut RoughRiders. With the commitments of Lebel and Kane, the Foresters have now brought in at least one new player from the EHL every season since the league was formed back in 2013. Looking back on the 2017-18 season in particular, Lebel is very happy with his decision to join the Express, and he took some time to give his thanks.

"I'm extremely excited for the opportunity to play NCAA hockey at Lake Forest College," said Lebel. "I am also very thankful for the support I received from my family, friends, and teammates over the years. A special thanks to Coach Lounsbury and the Walpole Express for making this dream possible."
