Express Defenseman Set to Join Vikings this Fall

WALPOLE, MA -- Josh Grasso, a defenseman for the Walpole Express, has committed to Salem State for the Fall of 2018. The '97 just finished his third season in Walpole, and his second at the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) level. The native of the Wolfeboro, NH spent the 2015-16 campaign at the Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP) level.

“Its been an incredible journey for Josh here in Walpole," said Express head coach and general manager Jon Lounsbury. "He has had some ups and downs with injuries, but has gutted it out and achieved a life long goal of playing college hockey. Josh plays with a lot of passion and poise, and will be extremely tough to replace. I'm excited to see him make the jump to NCAA hockey in the Fall. We will miss Grass on our blueline next year, but know he’s going to do great at Salem State.”

Looking back at his time with the Express, the gritty defenseman racked up eight points in 35 total games during his only season in the EHLP (2015-16). Following that first year, Grasso went on to play in 55 career games in the EHL over the next two seasons, tallying 29 total points during that time. Grasso enjoyed every minute of his time in Walpole, and took some time to reflect.

"I'm beyond grateful for the support I received along the way from my family, Coach Lounsbury, Coach Polino, and the boys. A special thanks to the Walpole Express for all of their efforts in this process. I'm extremely excited to play for the Vikings in the Fall," said Grasso.
