Express Forward Joins Growing List of Commits

WALPOLE, MA -- Will Ahearn, a forward for the Walpole Express, has committed to Worcester State University for the Fall of 2018. The '97 just finished his second season with the Express, and his first at the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) level. Ahearn racked up 31 points in 41 games for Walpole during the 2016-17 season in the Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP), and then this past year, finished 17 points in 47 total EHL games.

"Will was a staple in our lineup this season," said Express head coach and general manager Jon Lounsbury. "He played every bit of his 6'3 frame and was an every situation guy for us. Will is truly one of the hardest working players I have coached and there is no doubt in my mind that he will have a lot of success at the next level. Will's commitment on and off the ice is second to none."

With Ahearn's commitment, Walpole now has 13 players from their 2017-18 team who will be kicking off their collegiate hockey careers this Fall. Over half of those players (7), spent time developing in the EHLP before climbing the ladder to the EHL. All in all, Ahearn is very happy with the time spent in Walpole, and he took some time to give show his appreciation.

"Playing for the Walpole Express for the past two seasons has really helped me reach my goal of playing college hockey," said Ahearn. "I would not only like to thank the Walpole Express organization, but also my past coaches, friends, and family for supporting me through this process. I certainly wouldn't be in this position without them. I'm excited to see what the next level has in store for me. Go Lancers!"
