Warriors Defenseman Set to Join Skyhawks this Fall

HAVERHILL, MA -- Owen Schiffmann, a defenseman for the Valley Jr. Warriors, has committed to Stonehill College for the Fall of 2018. The '98 just finished his first and only season in the EHL, racking up 17 points in 45 total games on the blue line.

"His progression was great this year,” said Warriors head coach and general manager Andy Heinze. “He was definitely one of our top power-play guys. He has good size, and overall, his skating ability and stick skills were solid. I think it was the mental part of the game that he had to progress with and he did that."

Schiffmann is one of eight Warriors from the 2017-18 season, who will be kicking off his collegiate hockey career this Fall. What is unique for the Warriors, is that all eight players will also be heading off for eight different schools. The only player that will also be heading to the Northeast 10 (NE10) is Charlie Davis, who Schiffmann will face when the Skyhawks take on Southern New Hampshire University. While it was only one season for Schiffmann, the native of Milton, MA is very happy with his decision to play for Warriors and in the EHL.

"My year in the EHL allowed me to become a more complete player as well as person, it allowed me to mature a lot and is the reason I am going to be able to play college hockey next season,” said Schiffmann.
