EHL Alums Make Name for Themselves in the USHL

MUSKEGON, MI -- Anthony Del Gaizo and Marc Del Gaizo each spent over half of the 2015-16 season with the New Jersey Rockets in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL). Anthony, the older of the two brothers, tallied a phenomenal 39 points in 22 total games that season, and then joined the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the United States Hockey League (USHL) in early December. Marc, on the the other hand, put together a great year of his own with 29 points in 36 total games on the point. After the Rockets were eliminated from the playoffs, he too joined the Lumberjacks for the final stretch. The Del Gaizo brothers have been in Muskegon ever since then, and each took home USHL honors in their final season of junior hockey.

Anthony is a 1998 birth year and in total, he tallied 102 points in 164 career games in the USHL (regular season and postseason). Anthony's USHL career was highlighted by a stellar 72 points this past year, and deservedly so, he was named the USHL Player of the Year. Anthony is the first EHL alum to move on and win this honor, and he also was named to the All-USHL First Team.

As for Marc, the 1999 birth year finished his Lumberjacks career with 66 total points in 126 career games in the USHL (regular season and postseason). The talented defenseman was incredibly consistent over his two full seasons with the Lumberjacks, and he was named to the All-USHL Second Team.

All in all, the Del Gaizo brothers have a lot to be proud of in terms of their time spent in both the EHL and USHL. Sean Cromarty was their Head Coach when they were in the EHL, and he knows the experience they gained while playing in the league was very critical to their success.

"I think for both of them being in high school at the time, and having the opportunity to practice, train, and play against older competition while playing a prominent role on the team, helped them develop at a faster rate when compared to midget and/or prep hockey," said Cromarty.

The brothers will remain teammates this Fall, as they set out to kick-off their collegiate hockey careers at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Be sure to keep an eye on the Del Gaizo's in the Hockey East Association (HEA).
