Warriors Forward Set to Join Vikings this Fall

HAVERHILL, MA -- Bret Parker, a forward for the Valley Jr. Warriors, has committed to Salem State for the Fall of 2018. The '98 joined the Warriors in mid-December, and scored three goals in the final 17 games of the season.

"Ultimately he got better as the season went on and was able to get the attention of Salem State,” said Warriors head coach and general manager Andy Heinze. “I think that will be a good fit for him. He really wanted to go to school, and he helped us out with a lot of depth and skill in the lineup.”

Parker is one of four EHL players from the 2017-18 season, who will kicking off their collegiate hockey careers with the Vikings this Fall. The native of Hanvor, MA will be joined by Ryan Tierney (Boston Jr. Rangers), Kevin Stoya (East Coast Wizards), and Josh Grasso (Walpole Express). Parker is looking forward to the next step in his journey, and while it may have been short, he is also very thankful for his time with the Warriors.

“After coming off a long injury, the Warriors organization took me in halfway through the season and got me back to where I needed to be," said Parker. "Coach Heinze allowed me to come in and play a lot of minutes and that helped in my development as a player. I think the EHL is the top league for division 3 advancement and the coaches do a great job of finding the right fit for each player. I’d like to thank my friends and family for all the support."
