Knights Goaltender Set to Join New Program in the Fall of 2019

WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON, PA -- Thomas Walker, a goaltender for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights, has committed to Albertus Magnus College for the fall of 2019.

Walker is gearing up for his 2nd season in the EHL, and will be looking to build off of a solid 2017-18 campaign that saw him notch 14 wins to his name.

"The best way to start training camp is when you have players who are reporting and already committing to school,” said Knights head coach Josh Fusco. "It goes to show the success we're having here with our players, and more importantly, it shows they trust the process.”

As Fusco mentioned, the Knights are still in training camp as they gear up for their first game of the season, which is scheduled for Wednesday the 19th against the East Coast Wizards at 1:00pm. The Knights coach has not announced who will be in goal yet for his team, but last year's starter is feeling determined as he gets set to begin a new season.

"I want to be better for the length of the whole year," said Walker. "Last year, I thought I had a pretty slow start, and then a decent middle, and then slowed down again at the end. I’m looking to have a complete season and go further in the playoffs than we did.”

As is the case for any player, it's reassuring to have your commitment done and completed early on in the season. Walker is glad to have that weight off his shoulders, and is very happy with the decision that he made.

"I like the atmosphere-it’s right around Yale and Quinnipiac, so it’s a good college town,” said Walker of his future home. “The people are great; the head coach, the assistant coach, they’re just nice people, great people. To visit a school and find out it’s a small school-that’s what I was interested in because that’s the kind of high school I went to. Everything about the college just kinda sucked me in and I fell in love with it. With it being a new program, it just excited me to be part of it from the start, setting the groundwork for them to be successful for many years to come. Hopefully we’ll be in the record books by recording the first winning season."
