Brawley Headlines Top Performers from September

BOSTON, MA -- The first month of the 2018-19 Eastern Hockey League (EHL) season is officially in the books. The first 48 games of the year brought with them a number of great matchups and performances across the league. As is always the case, there were numerous candidates for our first set of TSR Hockey Stars of the Month.

The EHL is pleased to announce that Samir Abouelhana (Philadelphia Revolution), Jake Houk (Philadelphia Revolution), and Brendahn Brawley (Philadelphia Little Flyers) have been named the TSR Hockey Stars of the Month for September.

The Stars of the Month will all receive a $20 TSR Hockey gift certificate.

Scroll down to read about each player's set of September performances, and remember to catch the #Eshow action all year long on HockeyTV.

Samir Abouelhana

Abouelhana and the Revolution are off to another hot start again this season, as the '98 currently leads the league in scoring. The native of St. Louis, MO racked up 59 points in the regular season last year, and then added another 12 more points in the playoffs. This year's 20 points in September have Abouelhana in good position to surpass his 2017-18 season totals, with still lots of hockey left to be played.

The schedule gets hard for Philadelphia in the month of October, as they hit the ice for 6 more games, all of which are on the road.

Jake Houk

Keeping with the Revolution theme, Houk was a key contributor for his team on the blue line in September. The '99 does have less points then his teammate Tommy Donnelly, but it's the timing of Houk's points that sets him apart. Most recently, the native of Richboro, PA picked up the game-winning goal against the New Hampshire Avalanche on day #1 for the first showcase of the year. With the win, the Revolution were able to earn a little revenge over the Avalanche, after falling to them in the 2018 EHL Championship game.

Houk will look to continue to play a key role for his team, as the season picks up in the month of October.

Brendahn Brawley

Last, but certainly not least, there were a number of solid goaltending performances in month of September. Looking back however, there was just 1 netminder who shined above the rest.

Brawley's 2nd season in the EHL started off by setting a new EHL record, as the '98 didn't give up a goal in the first 155 minutes he stood between the pipes. From there, the native of Morton, PA finished the month of September with a record of 6-0-0 to go along with a 1.37 GAA, a .954 save percentage, and 2 shutouts.

Brawley was a finalist for the Goaltender of the Year award at the end of the 2017-18 season, and it's safe to say that he is the favorite for the honor so far this year.
