Adkins, Mroz, and Curry Earn EHL Weekly Honors

BOSTON, MA -- The Eastern Hockey League (EHL) season kept chugging along this past week, with at least 1 game per day for each of the past 6 days. With 18 of the 19 teams hitting the ice in the final week before the All-Star Weekend, there were plenty there were plenty of worthy candidates for our weekly honors.

The EHL is pleased to announce that Jake Adkins (New Hampshire Avalanche), Zikmund Mroz (Philadelphia Little Flyers), and Aiden Curry (Boston Jr. Rangers) have been named the TSR Hockey Stars of the Week.

It's worth noting that all 3 of this week's stars have also been named to the EHL All-Star Team that will take on Plymouth State and UMass Boston this weekend. The pair of exhibition games are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, each with 4:00pm puck drops.

As for upcoming league games the schedule is obviously rather light due to what lies ahead. The next set of TSR Hockey Stars of the Week will be released on Tuesday, October 23rd at 7:00pm. Remember to catch the #Eshow all season long on HockeyTV.

FORWARD - Jake Adkins (New Hampshire Avalanche)

Make it back-to-back weeks for Adkins, as the '99 forward continues to shine in his first season in the EHL. A week after tallying 7 points over a 3-game sweep for the Avalanche, Adkins added 4 more points and a shootout winner to his name this past weekend. New Hampshire once again won all 3 of their games, improving their record up to 8-2-0 for the year, and extending their winning streak to 6 games. Through the first 10 games of the season, the native of Colorado has scored 12 goals and dished out 5 assists. Yesterday afternoon against the Philadelphia Little Flyers was the first time Adkins was held off the scoresheet this year, but as mentioned, he did pick-up the winning tally for his team in the shootout. The Avalanche are now off until after the All-Star Weekend, as they will return to face-off against the Walpole Express on Saturday, October 27th.

DEFENSEMAN - Zikmund Mroz (Philadelphia Little Flyers)

On flip side of yesterday afternoon's shootout was Mroz and the Little Flyers. Back for his 3rd and final season in the EHL, the Czech Republic native is well on pace to surpass the numbers he put up in both the 2016-17 and 2017-18 campaigns. This past week, the '98 added pair of goals and a pair of assists to his name, as the Little Flyers picked up 5 of a possible 8 total points. For the year, Mroz now has 13 points in 13 games, which has him well on pace to surpass the 29 total points he tallied last year and the 31 total points he notched in his first season. Despite suffering their first regulation and shootout losses this past week, the Little Flyers still improved their record up to 11-1-1 for the season. The Little Flyers will return to action next when they take on the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers on Tuesday, October 23rd.

GOALTENDER - Aiden Curry (Boston Jr. Rangers)

Last, but not least, is another future EHL All-Star in Curry. The Rangers posted a record of 2-0-1 in their 3 games, and the '98 was between the pipes for the overtime win against the Connecticut RoughRiders on Saturday. Curry won the goaltending duel with Richard Ledek (RoughRiders), as he turned away 39 of the 40 total shots that were sent his way. With the win, the native of Michigan now owns a record of 4-1-0 for the season to go along with a 2.25 GAA and .934 save percentage. Unlike the Avalanche and Little Flyers, the Rangers have 1 more game scheduled before All-Star Weekend, as they are set to host the New England Wolves on Wednesday at Noon.

HONORABLE MENTIONS - Devin Phillips and Sean Traynor (NC Golden Bears)

The EHL would like to recognize Devin Phillips and Sean Traynor with Honorable Mentions following the North Carolina Golden Bears' weekend sweep of the Lehigh Valley Jr. Rebels. Phillips paced the team up front with 7 goals and 7 assists, all while Traynor held things down on the blue line with 3 goals and 4 assists of his own. North Carolina now enjoys a short break in their schedule, as they return to action next on November 3rd and 4th against the Philadelphia Little Flyers.
