Lawson, Halfpenny, and Paxson Earn EHL Weekly Honors

BOSTON, MA -- That does it for what turned out to be a very quiet 7-day stretch in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL). The past week featured just a handful of matchups due to in large part to the EHL All-Star Weekend, which turned out to be a weekend to remember for all the players and coaches involved.

The EHL is pleased to announce that Scot Lawson (Connecticut Chiefs), Blake Halfpenny (Connecticut RoughRiders), and DJ Paxson (Seahawks Hockey Club) have been named the TSR Hockey Stars of the Week.

Things crank back up in the EHL, with 20 games on the schedule from Wednesday through Sunday. The next set of TSR Hockey Stars of the Week will be released on Monday, October 29th at 4:00pm. Remember to catch the #Eshow all season long on HockeyTV.

FORWARD - Scot Lawson (Connecticut Chiefs)

Lawson and the Chiefs won their only game of the week, a 5-4 contest with the Connecticut RoughRiders that needed almost the entire overtime period to determine a winner. On Monday, the '99 from Massapequa, NY scored his 5th and 6th goals of the season, and also dished out his 5th assist of the year. To date, Lawson now has 11 points in 7 games, and is turning heads across the league. The Chiefs are riding a mini 2-game winning streak, and they will look to keep things rolling when they travel to take on the Boston Jr. Rangers on Wednesday and face-off in a home-and-home series with the Seahawks Hockey Club on Saturday and Sunday.

DEFENSEMAN - Blake Halfpenny (Connecticut RoughRiders)

Sticking with the Connecticut theme, Halfpenny and the RoughRiders picked up 3 of a possible 4 points this past week by knocking off the New York Applecore on Thursday and falling to the Connecticut Chiefs in overtime on Monday. The '98 from Eagle River, AK scored the game-tying and game-winning goals against New York on Thursday, his 3rd and 4th tallies of the year. Back for his 2nd season with the RoughRiders, Halfpenny now has 5 points through his first 11 games, which puts him on a good pace to surpass the 15 total points that he tallied this past season. The RoughRiders have just 1 game this upcoming weekend, as they look to get back in the win column when they face-off with the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers on Saturday evening.

GOALTENDER - DJ Paxson (Seahawks Hockey Club)

Paxson and the Seahawks won their only game this past week, a 2-1 victory over the Valley Jr. Warriors on Wednesday. The '98 who's also from Eagle River, AK stopped 33 of the 34 shots he faced, en route to earning his 2nd league honor of the year (TSR Hockey Stars of the Week #3). With the win, Paxson improves to 4-2-1 for the season, to go along with a 2.17 GAA and .923 save percentage. Paxson and the Seahawks are right in the thick of things in their division, and they have a big week ahead of them with matchups against the Vermont Lumberjacks and Connecticut Chiefs (2).

HONORABLE MENTION - Dalton Jerzak (New Jersey 87's)

Dalton Jerzak and the New Jersey 87's stretched their winning streak up to 7 games with a 3-2 victory over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights this past Wednesday. With the win, Jerzak now owns a mark of 6-2-0 for the season, to go along with a 2.40 GAA and .924 save percentage.
