Mattone Headlines List of Early Season Honorees

BOSTON, MA -- For the past 3 years, the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) has stood out as the leader in college placements at the Division II and III levels. The numbers simply don't lie, as the EHL accounted for nearly 1 in every 5 freshmen on Division II/III rosters during the 2017-18 season. It's also important to note that these players aren't just making these teams, but rather, they are making strong impacts toward their successes. We're less than a month into the collegiate hockey season, and the EHL has already seen a number of its alums take home top honors.

We'll start with the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC), a group of programs that recruits the EHL very heavily. To date, 116 players have committed to MASCAC schools since the EHL was formed back in 2013. Focusing in on this season in particular, and the first 2 goaltending awards have been given to EHL alums.

The accolades don't just stop there as the EHL has also seen alums grab the following honors so far this season:

New England Hockey Conference (NEHC)

  • Player of the Week (Nolan Redler)
  • Rookie of the Week (Asa Palker)
  • Honor Roll (Matt Wiesner)

United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC)

  • Player of the Week (Connor Powell)
  • Rookie of the Week (Donny Flynn)

Remember that our next set of TSR Hockey Stars of the Week will be released following the conclusion of this weekend's showcase. Be sure to catch the #Eshow all season long on HockeyTV.
