McDonough, Dunning, and Siolas Earn EHL Weekly Honors

BOSTON, MA -- We're already halfway through the 2018-19 EHL Showcase Series, after this past weekend's event at the Paul T. Gilmartin Memorial Arena in Haverhill, MA. The past 2 days featured all 19 Eastern Hockey League (EHL) teams, and a showcase record 9 shutouts. From the goaltenders to the defensemen and forwards, there were a number of great performances at the November Showcase.

The EHL is pleased to announce that Jack McDonough (New Jersey 87's), Nate Dunning (Philadelphia Little Flyers), and Peter Siolas (Vermont Lumberjacks) have been named the TSR Hockey Stars of the Week.

While a few teams begin their Thanksgiving break early, there are still 16 games on the schedule from Wednesday through Sunday. The next set of TSR Hockey Stars of the Week will be released on Monday, November 19th at 12:00pm. Remember to catch the #Eshow all season long on HockeyTV.

FORWARD - Jack McDonough (New Jersey 87's)

McDonough and the 87's beat the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights on Wednesday, and then remained perfect in showcase play with wins over the Vermont Lumberjacks and the New England Wolves on Sunday and Monday. With the 3-0-0 week, the 87s increased their lead up to 14 points in the North Division of the Mid-Atlantic Conference. As for McDonough, the '98 forward tallied a pair of goals and a pair of assists in the 3 games. For the season, the native of Doylestown, PA now has 4 goals and 12 assists through his first 17 games. After being held off the scoresheet in the first 5 contests of the year, McDonough has now tallied at least a point in 11 of his last 12 games. New Jersey is now set to take on the Connecticut Chiefs on Saturday and the Lehigh Valley Jr. Rebels on Sunday, before taking a short break for Thanksgiving.

DEFENSEMAN - Nate Dunning (Philadelphia Little Flyers)

Dunning and the Little Flyers enjoyed a perfect 3-0-0 week as well, beating the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers on Friday and then the Connecticut RoughRiders and the Connecticut Chiefs at the November Showcase. For the season, Philadelphia is now 18-1-1 through their first 20 games, and they'll enjoy a nice break between now and their next game on November 30th. Focusing in on their '98 defenseman, and Dunning collected a goal and a pair of assists during the showcase. For the season, the native of Morton, PA now has 3 goals and 10 assists, and he ranks 3rd on his team in defensive scoring. The Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP) alum has transitioned well to the EHL level, and he will look to keep things rolling when the Little Flyers return to action at the end of the month.

GOALTENDER - Peter Siolas (Vermont Lumberjacks)

Despite all the shutouts, the best goaltending performance of the November Showcase goes out to a netminder that did let 1 shot get past him. Siolas was dominant outside of the 1 goal against, turning aside the 33 other shots that the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights sent his way. With the win, the '99 from Carmel, NY now owns a record of 4-5-1 for the season, and he'll look to ride the momentum into a big upcoming series against the Boston Jr. Rangers. Looking ahead to the upcoming schedule for Siolas and the Lumberjacks, outside of the December and January showcases, Vermont has 14 games between now and February 6th with 13 of those set to take place in the friendly confines of Leddy Arena.

HONORABLE MENTION - Conor Leach (New Hampshire Avalanche)

Conor Leach and the New Hampshire Avalanche won all 3 of their matchups this past week, extending their winning streak up to 14 games, which puts them in a tie for the 3rd longest stretch of its kind in EHL history. Focusing in on the 3 games from this past week, and Leach helped pace the offense with a pair of goals and 4 assists. For the season, Leach now has 12 points through his first 16 games. Leach and the Avalanche will go for their 15th straight win when they host the East Coast Wizards on Friday at 1:00pm.
