Another Set of Honorees

BOSTON, MA -- We can check off another week in the 2018-19 hockey season, as the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) continues to see its alums turn heads at the next level. Below you'll find all of the EHL alums who took home honors in their respective division II/III conferences this past week.

The next set of TSR Hockey Stars of the Week will be released on Tuesday, December 4th. Prior to that however, we will announce our November Stars of the Month on Monday, December 3rd. Remember to catch the #Eshow all season long on HockeyTV.

Kurt Gutting (Southern New Hampshire)

Kurt Gutting spent the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons with the New England Wolves, and the '95 netminder is now in his junior season at Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU). Gutting was between the pipes in each game for the Penmen at the annual Manchester PAL/Stovepipe Tournament this past weekend.

Gutting turned aside 54 saves on 55 shots as SNHU knocked off the 7th-ranked UMass Boston Beacons in their first game of the tournament, and then he made 28 more saves in a 2-2 tie with SUNY Fredonia in the Championship Game. All in all, the pair of performances helped earn Gutting top honors as the Goaltender of the Week in the Northeast-10 (NE10).

Anthony Nikolopoulos (Boston Jr. Rangers)

Sticking with the NE10, Anthony Nikolopolous is in his freshman season at Franklin Pierce University. The '98 scored twice this past week, and that includes the game-winning goal against Stonehill College. The performance earned Nikolopolous honors as the Rookie of the Week in the NE10. Nikolopoulos tallied 17 total points for the Boston Jr. Rangers last season, and is off to a great start with 7 points already this year.

Blake Wojtala (New York Applecore)

Another week, and another award for the senior goaltender at Salve Regina University. Wojtala was named the Goaltender of the Week in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) after he led his team to a weekend sweep of Endicott College last week, and this week he played the role of anchor as the Seahawks won the Skidmore Thanksgiving Invitational Championship. The '94 made 31 saves in a win over Bryn Athyn College to kick-off the tournament, and then turned aside 33 more shots in the win over Skidmore College in the Championship Game. For the season, Wojtala now owns a record of 6-1-1 to go along with a solid 2.48 GAA.

Steven Leonard (New York Bobcats) and Jimmy Pelton (Valley Jr. Warriors)

Flipping over to the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC), and we get a pair alums that are now playing for the UMass Dartmouth Corsairs.

Steven Leonard spent the 2015-16 season with the New York Bobcats, and is now in his junior year at UMD. The '95 scored 3 goals and dished out a pair of assists in 3 total games for his team. For the season, Leonard now has 9 points in his first 8 games, and he's well on his way to setting new career highs in terms of goals, assists, and points. The top-notch set of performances earned himself Player of the Week honors in the MASCAC.

As for the Rookie of the Week in the MASCAC, Jimmy Pelton racked up a goal and an assist during the 3 games for UMD. For the season, the '97 alum of the Valley Jr. Warriors now has 5 points through his first 8 games.

Mitchell Parsons (Connecticut RoughRiders)

Mitchell Parsons keeps tearing it up in his first year at SUNY Brockport. The '97 tallied 4 points in 2 games at the Catamount Radio Invite, and was named the MVP of the tournament. Along with that honor, Parsons is taking home another Rookie of the Week award in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC), as he continues to lead his team in scoring, with 10 points to his name so far this year.

Ryan Dunn (New England Wolves)

Last, but not least, we wrap-up the week of honorees with another former member of the Wolves. Ryan Dunn was a teammate of Gutting's during the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons, tallying 56 total points during his career in the EHL. Now in his junior year with the Blue Devils (Fredonia), Dunn was named the MVP of the Manchester PAL/Stovepipe Tournament. The '95 scored a pair of goals and dished out an assist during the 2 games for his team. For the season, Dunn now has 5 points through his first 6 games.
