Little Flyers Alum Set to Join Crusaders Next Fall

AMARILLO, TX -- Alex Peterson, an alumnus of the Philadelphia Little Flyers, has committed to Holy Cross for the fall of 2019.

After leading the Little Flyers all the way to Game #5 of the 2016-17 EHL Finals, Peterson has spent the each of the past two seasons with the Amarillo Bulls of the North American Hockey League (NAHL). Also guiding Peterson in Texas is Rocky Russo, who was the coach of the Little Flyers for four seasons, and was named the EHL Coach of the Year in his final year in the league (2016-17).

As for Peterson, the native of Lansdale, PA played in 44 regular season games during the 2016-17 season, scoring 16 goals and adding 22 assists for 38 points in his first year of junior hockey.  The Little Flyers won the regular season title and owned the number one seed heading into the EHL Playoffs where Peterson added his name to the record books. Peterson scored 13 goals in 12 postseason games, including 4 game winners, and his 22 total playoff points is the top mark in #Eshow History. Peterson’s biggest moment came in Game #1 of the EHL Finals when he scored the game-winning goal in overtime to give the Little Flyers a 1-0 series lead over the rival Philadelphia Jr. Flyers.

The Little Flyers have created their own pipeline to Amarillo, as along with Peterson and Russo, there have been a handful of other individuals who've worked their way down to Texas. Included on this list is George Lewis, who served as the Assistant Coach (2016-17) and the Head Coach (2017-18) of the Little Flyers, and is now the Assistant Coach of the Bulls. As for the players, Brett Abdelnour and Cameron Bartkoski were a part of the 2016-17 Little Flyers team, and each individual continued their development in Texas.
