Master, Traynor, and Paxson Earn EHL Weekly Honors

BOSTON, MA -- We've officially hit the holiday break in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL). This past week featured a very light schedule, with just ten games across the EHL. Despite the small slate, there were still 11 different teams in action, and plenty of worthy candidates for our final set of weekly honors in 2018.

The EHL is pleased to announce that Austin Master (Philadelphia Little Flyers), Sean Traynor (North Carolina Golden Bears), and DJ Paxson (Seahawks Hockey Club) have been named the TSR Hockey Stars of the Week.

The EHL is on break now through the new year, and the next set of TSR Hockey Stars of the Week will be released on Tuesday, January 8th. Remember to catch the #Eshow all season long on HockeyTV
.

FORWARD - Austin Master (Philadelphia Little Flyers)

Master and the Little Flyers swept their home-and-home series with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights, and improved their record up to 25-2-1 for the season. The '98 native of Broomall, PA was the offensive catalyst for his team, scoring four goals and dishing out four assists in the two-game set. For the season, Master now has 20 goals and 24 assists, and he's played in all 28 games for the Little Flyers.

Looking ahead, Philadelphia will begin 2019 with a nine-point lead over the New Hampshire Avalanche for the top spot in the league standings. While the cushion is relatively comfortable, the Little Flyers know their work is still cut out for them throughout the end of the regular season and into the playoffs.

DEFENSEMAN - Sean Traynor (North Carolina Golden Bears)

Traynor and the Golden Bears picked up three of a possible six points during their weekend series with Team Maryland. The '99 native of Florence, SC was a leader for his team on the blue line, finding the back of net five times during the series. For the season, Traynor now has nine points (seven goals, two assists), through 22 total games to date.

The 2nd half of the year will be busy for the Golden Bears, with eleven games on the schedule in January, followed up by ten more contests in February. North Carolina is 12 points out of the final playoff spot in the Mid-Atlantic Conference, so they will have their work cut out for them in the final two months of the regular season.

GOALTENDER - DJ Paxson (Seahawks Hockey Club)

Between the pipes, Paxson was an anchor for his team once again. Despite not starting in his team's matchup against the Connecticut RoughRiders on Wednesday, the '98 native of Eagle River, AK was called on in relief. Upon entering the game, the Seahawks were trailing 4-1 early on in the 2nd period. Paxson proceeded to turn aside 14 of the 15 shots he faced. Meanwhile on offense, the Seahawks powered their way back to a 6-5 victory in overtime.

Flip over to Thursday, and Paxson received the start against the East Coast Wizards. After shutting out the division rival back in November, Paxson grabbed his 2nd win over the Wizards, with 18 saves on 20 total shots. With the pair of victories, Paxson now owns a record of 13-5-2 to go along with a 1.66 GAA and .925 save percentage. Paxson is turning heads during his final season of junior hockey, as this is the third time the Seahawks' netminder has been named the Goaltender of the Week in the EHL (TSR Hockey Stars of the Week #3 -- TSR Hockey Stars of the Week #6).

HONORABLE MENTION - Anthony Del Tufo (Team Maryland)

Sticking in goal for this week's Honorable Mention, the EHL would like to recognize Anthony Del Tufo of Team Maryland for his set of performances against the North Carolina Golden Bears. The '99 native of Livingston, NJ started and won the first and third games of his team's series against North Carolina. Del Tufo also entered the second game in relief, and in total, he turned aside 98 of the 103 total shots that he faced.
