Pickett Headlines Top Performers from January

BOSTON, MA -- We've reached the final full month of the 2018-19 regular season in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL). With just over 75 games left before the postseason, the intensity will surely crank up over the next five weeks. Looking back at this past month, and there were many great matchups and performances that took place. It was also very apparent that the holiday break came at the perfect time for many players and coaches across the league.

The EHL is pleased to announce that Wiggle Kerbrat (New Hampshire Avalanche), Nick Daluisio (Philadelphia Little Flyers), and Nathan Pickett (New Hampshire Avalanche) have been named the TSR Hockey Stars of the Month for January.

The Stars of the Month will all receive a $20 TSR Hockey gift certificate.

Scroll down to read about each player's set of January performances, and remember to catch the #Eshow action all year long on HockeyTV.

Wiggle Kerbrat

Kerbrat and the Avalanche returned from the holiday break, and won eight of their nine games during the month of January. The '98 native of Laguna Niguel, CA played a huge role in his team's near-perfect month, scoring eight times and dishing out nine assists. For the season, Kerbrat now has 56 points (21 goals, 35 assists) through 34 games, and he's a big reason why the Avalanche are looking to repeat as EHL Champions.

Looking ahead, New Hampshire has eleven games remaining as they move closer towards clinching the North Division of the New England Conference. The Avalanche will lean heavily on Kerbrat down the stretch, as included in the forward's month of January were three game-winning goals. They say big players score big goals, and Kerbrat has shown that to be exactly the case so far this season. Many college scouts have taken notice to Kerbrat and his offensive abilities, and he's hoping to announce his NCAA Commitment very soon.

Nick Daluisio

Similar to the Avalanche, Daluisio and the Little Flyers won eight of their nine games during the month of the January. This is Daluisio's third EHL honor of the season, as the Little Flyers' captain was also awarded as the top defenseman back in Week #3 and Week #16. This award also gives the Little Flyers back-to-back monthly recipients of the honor, as Zikmund Mroz was just recognized as the Defenseman of the Month for December.

Looking back on the month that was for Daluisio, and in nine games, the veteran blueliner scored a trio of times and dished out 15 assists. For the season, Daluisio now has 52 points through 37 total games, which blows away the 15 total points that he tallied throughout the entire 2017-18 season. Philadelphia just became the first team to earn a First Round bye in the EHL Playoffs, after clinching the South Division of the Mid-Atlantic Conference. Now with just seven games remaining, Daluisio and the Little Flyers have their sights set on the Regular Season Championship, and then the EHL Frozen Finals.

Nathan Pickett

While Kerbrat helped pace the offense for the Avalanche, Pickett was an anchor between the pipes. The '99 native of Auburn, MA was in net for seven of the eight victories, improving his overall record up to 18-1-0 for the season. The perfect month of January also included a 1.17 GAA and .952 save percentage, which each led all qualifying goaltenders throughout the EHL.

For the season, Pickett's overall marks aren't far off from where he was in January, as the netminder currently owns a 1.66 GAA and .942 save percentage. Of all that Pickett has accomplished so far this year, arguably his biggest moment came yesterday when he official made his commitment to continue both his academic and athletic careers at Suffolk University in the fall of 2019.

With this weight now off his shoulders, Pickett can turn his full attention towards the EHL Playoffs, as the Avalanche look to defend their title.
